Join our End Abuse Webinar (July 2025) 📅People with disabilities experience sexual violence at alarmingly high rates, yet their experiences are often minimized, misunderstood, or excluded from mainstream conversations about prevention and response. This webinar explores the intersection of ableism and rape culture &mdash; and how harmful societal beliefs about disability create conditions that increase vulnerability to abuse while limiting access to safety, justice, and healing. Participants will examine the systemic factors that contribute to violence against people with disabilities, including dependency, isolation, institutionalization, communication barriers, credibility bias, and the devaluation of disabled lives. The session will also explore how rape culture shows up in service systems, criminal legal responses, media narratives, and everyday interactions. Hosted by Activating Change Inc ✊ Grounded in survivor-centered and disability justice-informed approaches, this webinar will challenge common myths, elevate the lived experiences of survivors with disabilities, and offer practical strategies for advocates, educators, healthcare providers, victim service professionals, and systems leaders seeking to create more accessible, responsive, and equitable approaches to prevention and intervention.
