Secular Humanists of the Lowcountry (SHL)

LXCL:SHL&nbsp;is a nonprofit organization that builds community for people free from supernatural belief, provides mutual aid to promote &amp; exercise progressive values, and defends the separation of church and state through secular activism. <a href="https://lowcountryhumanists.org" class="lxcl-link" dir="ltr">Learn more on our website</a>! SHL is a chapter of the <a href="https://americanhumanist.org/" class="lxcl-link" dir="ltr">American Humanist Association</a>. SHL is an all volunteer, member supported organization, primarily funded by membership dues and donations. You can become a member or renew your membership through our <a href="https://app.joinit.com/o/shl" class="lxcl-link" dir="ltr">Member Portal</a>.

This will be a hands-on learning experience presented by Master Artisan/Instructor, Alan Rabon, and hosted by MS2 Hair Salon in West Ashley. We will be using multiple crafting techniques and mixed media, including gold leafing and minor painting. You will only need to bring an 8 x 10 photo of yourself, a loved one, or a pet to be used as the foundation of your piece. If you do not have your own photo to bring, there will be a printer on hand to print out pictures that can be taken at the class. Guaranteed to be a fun and exciting afternoon that will encourage you to recognize, celebrate, and aspire you towards your higher self. Feel free to bring your own drinks ... BYOB is fine for this event.

The regime has sabotaged the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), which provided over 42 million families in the United States with access to healthy food. Since the passage of the cruel, so-called Big Beautiful Bill, SNAP participation nationwide fell by 2.5 million people (6 percent) between the law&rsquo;s July 2025 enactment and December of that year, the latest month of data from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA). <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.cbpp.org/research/food-assistance/snap-tracker-people-are-losing-food-assistance-as-the-republican-megabill" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: initial; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">South Carolina is among the three worst affected states</a>.&nbsp; Charleston County alone has over 13,500 households, that&rsquo;s over 27,000 food insecure people, that rely on SNAP to put food on the table every month. Just as people in cities all over the country are protecting those in danger from the regime, we can help protect our most vulnerable citizens from hunger until this crisis is over.&nbsp; SHL continues to step up to SNAP Back at Hunger. Donations are used to purchase commonly needed food staples in bulk and then volunteer crews will stock free little pantries (blessing boxes) and community fridges where the need is greatest.&nbsp;
