In February 2026, ADVF launched its first pilot medical mission in Costa Rica — a landmark collaboration with Envision Festival 2026, Costa Rican ophthalmologist Dr. Claudio Orlich, and the Vision Innovation Institute (VII).Our team traveled to San José to perform sight-restoring cataract surgery at Clinica 20/20, providing pre-screened patients with intraocular lens (IOL) implantation — a procedure that permanently restores functional vision.This campaign funds the direct costs of this mission and future missions like it: ✅ Surgical supplies and equipment ✅ Patient pre-operative care and screening ✅ Medical team travel and logistics ✅ Intraocular lenses for patients in needThis Costa Rica pilot builds on ADVF's successful 2025 missions in Morocco and Tijuana, Mexico — and it's the foundation for a scalable, replicable model that can reach millions more.Globally, 1 billion people live with preventable vision loss.
