Around the Curtain Community Children's Theatre

Around the Curtain Children's Theatre empowers youth through engaging theatre arts programs, fostering creativity, confidence, and collaboration. We provide a supportive environment where children can explore their talents and express themselves.

Raise Your Voice is a Broadway Junior&reg; revue featuring standout songs from a variety of beloved musicals, including The Little Mermaid, Mary Poppins, Oliver!, Into the Woods JR., and more. This ensemble-based production gives performers the opportunity to explore multiple styles of musical theatre while building confidence, storytelling skills, and stage presence. Designed for K&ndash;12 students of all experience levels, Raise Your Voice offers meaningful moments for both new and experienced performers to shine in a supportive, high-energy environment. We can&#39;t wait to see you at auditions!

Raise Your Voice Auditions

Step into the world of improv and discover the power of thinking on your feet! This weekly class focuses on building confidence, creativity, and strong ensemble skills through fun, fast-paced games and exercises. Students will learn the fundamentals of improvisation, including listening, collaboration, and the art of &ldquo;yes, and,&rdquo; all in a supportive and encouraging environment. Perfect for beginners and those looking to sharpen their performance skills.

Camp Improv Adventures

This week-long immersive acting intensive is designed for upper middle and high school students who are ready to grow as performers in a focused, supportive environment. Students will train in core acting techniques including character development, scene work, movement, and vocal expression while building confidence, stage presence, and ensemble skills.Each day will include hands-on exercises, partner and group work, and guided rehearsal, culminating in an informal showcase of scenes at the end of the week. This camp is ideal for both experienced performers and motivated beginners who are eager to learn and be challenged. *Minimum Registration Required. For ages 12 - 18.

Immersive Acting Intensive Camp

Join us for a magical double feature performance showcasing the incredible work of our two-week summer camp! Students bring the stage to life with Finding Nemo KIDS&mdash;a heartwarming underwater adventure full of friendship, bravery, and big laughs&mdash;followed by Into the Woods JR., where classic fairy tale characters collide in a witty, whimsical journey through wishes, consequences, and discovery. After just two weeks of rehearsals, our young performers shine as they demonstrate growth, creativity, and teamwork in two fully staged productions. Don&rsquo;t miss this special celebration of storytelling, imagination, and the hard work of our campers as they wrap up an unforgettable summer on stage!

Double Feature: Finding Nemo Kids & Into the Woods Jr

Step into the world of wit, wonder, and words with our four-day Shakespeare Camp! Designed for students ages 12 and up, this immersive experience offers a lively dive into the life, times, and genius of William Shakespeare. Campers will explore everything Shakespeare is famous for through interactive activities, games, and performance-based learning. We&rsquo;ll travel back to the Elizabethan Period, uncover what daily life was like in Shakespeare&rsquo;s time, and discover how history, politics, and culture shaped his writing. Students will learn about the iconic Globe Theatre, how plays were staged, who performed them, and what it was like to be an audience member over 400 years ago. Along the way, campers will engage with scenes, characters, and language from Shakespeare&rsquo;s plays&mdash;breaking down the text, decoding the humor and drama, and understanding why his stories still matter today. Whether acting out scenes, exploring famous monologues, or uncovering hidden insults and wordplay, students will gain confidence, creativity, and a deeper appreciation for why Shakespeare remains one of the greatest storytellers of all time. No prior Shakespeare experience needed&mdash;just curiosity, imagination, and a willingness to have fun with words! This camp will meet at Weatherly Heights - 1306 Cannstatt Dr. SE - due to the Studio relocating during this week

Bard Basics: A Shakespeare Camp

Ever wondered how a stage transforms into an entire world? In this hands-on camp, middle and high school students will explore the exciting behind-the-scenes magic of theatre by designing and building sets and props for the stage. Campers will learn the basics of scenic design, safe tool use, construction techniques, and painting and finishing methods&mdash;all while working collaboratively on real theatrical projects. This camp is perfect for creative thinkers, builders, artists, and problem-solvers who enjoy working with their hands and being part of a team. No prior theatre experience is required&mdash;just curiosity and a willingness to try something new! By the end of the week, students will have gained practical skills, confidence, and a deeper appreciation for the teamwork that brings a production to life. All materials are provided. Closed-toe shoes required.
