Join the ADSVA for a classic film experience and connect with fellow Art Deco enthusiasts to learn how cinema reflected the design and energy of the era! In the spirit of the season, we are hosting a viewing of the 1930s classic Madam Satan. And what better place to hold our inaugural movie night than at the beautiful Art Deco Henrico Theatre, designed by local architect Edward F. Sinnott and completed in 1938. (Sinnott also designed the Rose & Lafoon Building and Robinson Theatre in Richmond, among others). The film "blends romantic comedy, musical spectacle, and disaster drama as a refined socialite adopts a daring alter ego to reignite her husband’s passion during a lavish costume ball aboard a Zeppelin." Join us at 6pm for a look at the theater and brief talk about the film and the theatre before the movie. The movie will commence at 7pm. All are welcome to join us in costume, fancy dress, or the fashion of your choosing!🎬 Enjoy a thoughtfully selected movie in an authentic period setting, connect with fellow Art Deco enthusiasts, and learn how cinema reflected the design and spirit of the era. Your ticket supports our work to honor, share, and preserve Virginia’s Art Deco heritage. 🎞️
