Association Of Engineering Geologists- Puget Sound Chapter

The Association of Engineering Geologists promotes the practice of engineering geology through education, networking, and advocacy, ensuring safe and sustainable development in geologically sensitive areas.

The Nisqually and Puget Sound chapters of the Association for Engineering and Environmental Geologists (AEG) are having a joint meeting this month to reconnect with colleagues from across Washington state, with guest speakers John Bingam and Margot Ferencz of Haley &amp; Aldrich and with a special introduction from Tim Walsh!The speakers will be presenting &quot;A Summary of Abandoned Coal Mines, Hazard Investigation, and Reclamation in Western Washington&quot;, sharing their experiences working with the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and Enforcement (OSMRE) to investigate and monitor abandoned coal mines in the region, with a focus on those in the Newcastle-Cougar Mountain area.This meeting is also sponsored by Holt Services, Inc., an employee-owned company providing a variety of environmental, geotechnical, and clean water drilling services to the Pacific Northwest!We hope to see you there!

Joint Nisqually-Puget Sound January Meeting

Join us for our annual Student Presentation Night, highlighting student work in engineering geology and related fields. This event supports AEG Puget Sound Chapter&rsquo;s mission to advance the science and practice of engineering and environmental geology through shared knowledge and professional growth.&nbsp; We will also be host to Paul Weaver, President of National AEG, who will give a short presentation on his experiences in the industry and the value found in working as an engineering (and/or environmental) geologist! We will be meeting at Hotel116 in Bellevue, a few blocks away from the Wilburton Station of the 2-line light rail now crossing Lake Washington! Students, this is a great moment to share the hard work you&#39;ve been doing in your university coursework with fellow geologists eager to learn what new discoveries are being made and new methodologies applied to our ever-changing world! You may even leave a lasting impression with people who might be on an interview panel in the future!
