Bashi Arts Inc. empowers and amplifies the voices of Black women through experimental dance performances that explore themes of girlhood, womanhood, and Black feminism, fostering community engagement and accessibility in the arts.

Performance by the Girls is Bashi Arts&#39; inaugural performance program, featuring works by founding resident dance companies, <a fr-original-style="" href="http://enyakaliacreations.org" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Enya Kalia Creations</a> and <a fr-original-style="" href="http://racheldeforrestrepinz.com" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">RACHEL:dancers</a>. Performance by the Girls is an evening of experimental concert dance performance, centered on themes of girlhood, womanhood, Black feminism, and ancestral resonances.&nbsp; The following access offerings will be provided to all ticketed audience members:<ol fr-original-style="" style="width: 100%; box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Bashi Arts embraces an open-door policy, inviting audience members to enter/exit the theater throughout the performance as necessary.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Audio description will be available via QR code and can be accessed on your own smartphone. Audience members using audio description are asked to bring their own smartphone and headphones. For The Black Women Who Saved My Life (Act 2), pre-recorded audio description will be available throughout the performance. For Why Do I Keep Betting on a Losing Dog? / Tomorrow, I&#39;ll Be Ready (Act 1), a pre-recorded audio introduction will be available before the performance. The work itself incorporates an experimental audio description soundscore as part of the performance.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">A limited number of KN95 masks and COVID self-tests&nbsp;are available at the check-in table in the lobby. We encourage you to take any COVID supplies you may need. Masking during this event is not required, but highly encouraged.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Fidget/sensory toys&nbsp;are available at the check-in table in the lobby. You are welcome to use them at any time. We ask that if you use any of these items, you return them to the check-in table following tonight&rsquo;s performance.</li></ol> Ticketed audience members can request the following access offerings in advance, after (or while) purchasing their ticket:<ol fr-original-style="" style="width: 100%; box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">ASL interpretation is available upon advance request. If you would like to request ASL interpretation for this performance, please email info@bashiarts.org with the subject line &quot;ASL Interpretation - Performance.&quot; To ensure the best viewing experience, audience members requesting ASL interpretation will be assigned seating that provides a clear view of the interpreter throughout the performance. We kindly ask that any requests for ASL interpretation be made via email no later than Sunday, August 2nd, 2026.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Wheelchair accessible seating is available upon advance request.&nbsp;If you would like to request wheelchair accessible seating, you will be prompted to do so during your ticket purchase. Simply &quot;check&quot; the box when asked, &quot;Would you like to reserve wheelchair accessible seating?&quot; for all guests who would like to reserve an accessible seat. To ensure the best experience, audience members requesting accessible seating will be assigned seating in the front row.</li></ol> An Access &amp; Experience Guide will be available in the lobby before and throughout the performance to assist with accessing the audio description and answer any access-related questions. The Mark O&rsquo;Donnell Theater is an ADA-accessible theater seating 87 audience members total. ADA-accessible, gender-neutral bathrooms are available. Sensory Warning: During this performance, loud and sudden sounds will be played. Theatrical lighting will be used. Some works include additional multi-sensory elements, such as the live shucking of sweet corn, the use of live flowers, and a &ldquo;scent score&rdquo; card in the show program that includes interactive scratch-and-sniff stickers. Some of these elements may be overwhelming to audience members. We encourage you to use our open door policy as needed.

Join Bashi Arts for our 2026 Holiday Mixer 🎉 celebrating 10 years of Enya Kalia Creations.&nbsp; This FREE after-work event includes refreshments, cocktails, pop-up performances, opportunities to connect with dancers and dance advocates, and more as we celebrate this incredible milestone for Enya Kalia Creations (EKC). Connect with EKC dancers past &amp; present, Disabled and Black dance artists, young artists, and the community members who sustain this work.&nbsp; RSVP to share space, conversation, and joy with us. 💃🏾 EKC began in 2016 as a collective of undergraduate student artists at SUNY Buffalo State. Over the years, we grew to be a fiscally sponsored dance company based in Brooklyn, NY. In 2025, we are proud to have transitioned to become one of two resident dance companies housed under the newly formed 501(c)(3) non-profit organization&nbsp;Bashi Arts, Inc. December 2026 marks the 10th anniversary of our first-ever EKC performance, Catharsis. We are so grateful for how far we&#39;ve come and the exciting things in store. EKC remains committed to bringing &lsquo;flava&rsquo; to conceptual art by creating and performing untold movement narratives of emerging revolutionaries. Working in African Diasporic movement forms, the company reimagines what it means to be unapologetically Black, a woman, and free. Your presence at the Bashi Arts 2026 Holiday Mixer helps to supports affordable performance and movement spaces where our choreographic research, teaching, and performance practices can grow. About the Venue:&nbsp;The Armory BK (149 4th Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11217) is an ADA-accessible venue. ADA-accessible, gender-neutral bathrooms are available.&nbsp; Food and refreshments will be provided. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks are available for purchase at the bar.
