Also on the program, Copland's Appalachian Spring.Saturday, May 8th at 7pm- Fame's Bright Sky - Pianist Ann DuHamel, premiering a concerto composed for her and the BSO by composer and fellow U of Iowa grad, Joseph Dangerfield. And the orchestra will close out the season with William Grant Still's Symphony No. 1, "Afro American". This season could have been called "Mostly American" classics with the addition of the Norwegian concert. Of the 7 season concerts, 6 feature American composers and all of those feature living composers including 2 Minnesota premieres. The BSO continues its tradition of highlighting historically underrepresented composers and guest artists, such as female, Black, and members of the LGBTQ+ community. The BSO prioritizes equity-centered repertoire and programming choices from a wide range of genres. Combining current music with traditional classics and pops helps our orchestra stay relevant and vibrant in the community. New music keeps the orchestra and conductor on our toes in the rehearsal process, and the standards provide a great grounding of traditions that drew us all to this art form in the first place. Your tickets will be mailed to the address you provide. If purchased within 10 days before a concert, tickets will be available for pick-up at the Will Call Table. If not picked up, they will then be mailed. With Zeffy, the BSO receives 100% of your contribution. Zeffy will ask you for a donation to support them when you checkout.
