Birth Detroit

Birth Detroit is dedicated to improving Black maternal health through advocacy, education, and community support. They empower Black women by addressing systemic barriers and promoting culturally relevant resources for a healthier pregnancy journey.

Facilitated by Michaela Ayers, founder of Nourish and Black Her Stories, Birth Story Salon is a creative storytelling workshop&nbsp;that invites the community to share stories that cover the full spectrum of birth&mdash;tender, powerful, joyful, and messy. Join us for a&nbsp;<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">A nourishing meal&nbsp;</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Fireside Chat with our midwives that explores what&rsquo;s possible when birthing people are supported.&nbsp;</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Creative Storytelling Workshop that invites participants to express their stories through color, texture, and narrative.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Storytelling Booth, where participants may choose to record a story that will be shared as part of our Birth Stories series and added to Birth Detroit&rsquo;s archives</li></ul>

Birth Story Salon: Be Seen, Heard, and Nourished

Celebrate Black Maternal Health Week with Supper &amp; Cinema: Listen to Me. Come for the food and stay for this powerful film! Birth Detroit presents the screening of &quot;Listen to Me&quot;, followed by a moderated discussion with one of the film&#39;s directors, Kanika Harris.&nbsp; Listen to Me follows three Black women as they navigate the journey to motherhood in a system not built to protect them. What begins as a documentary about the pregnancies of maternal health advocates becomes a powerful archive of grief, resilience, and healing.

You&#39;re invited to an intimate VIP tour of Birth Detroit. Before we gather for our Impact Report reception, step inside &quot;the birth center love built&quot;. We&#39;re taking a select group through our current space and sharing the plans with you for where our expanded Birth Detroit Care campus will soon flourish.
