Creating SpacesIt’s safe to say we all know that most places in our neighborhoods (grocery stores, movie theaters, parks and hangout spots, etc) aren't built with everyone in mind. For families with neurodivergent or special needs loved ones, just stepping out the door can mean a constant calculations of risks, worrying about sensory overload, or dealing with the judgment of a world that doesn’t wholly consider how they fit into it. It can be incredibly isolating. In fact, research shows that over 50% of autistic individuals face chronic, long-term loneliness simply because there aren't enough places where they can just show up and be completely themselves. We also know that caring for a loved one with special needs is a journey fueled by absolute love, but it can also be exhausting. A nationwide study found that over 54% of family caregivers report experiencing extreme levels of daily stress. Everyone needs a moment to catch their breath, but it is hard to step away when you don't know who to trust. We want to give parents and guardians a genuine, worry-free break. Our understanding of this reality is why part of Blossom and Branch’s model and mission is hosting periodic events to create the missing spaces the special needs community deserves. We intend to launch The Hangout Hub, a safe, cozy spot where individuals can hangout with their peers, watch movies, and eat with or without a guardian. And Chef For A Day, a fun, hands-on cooking event where our guests get to create, bake, and enjoy delicious treats together.Because our events are run by highly trained professionals and incredible teacher's aides, families can drop their loved ones off with total peace of mind.
