BSL Spring Fling: Venus Flytrap Festival

Boiling Spring Lakes Friends of Parks and Recreation&nbsp;presents an outdoor screening of The Little Shop of Horrors! Bring a blanket or low beach chair and join us at the community center for some flytrap fun! Don&#39;t forget to wear your best flytrap attire.&nbsp; Come visit with local conservation and environmental groups to learn about Venus Flytraps and how you can help preserve their local habitat, right here in Boiling Spring Lakes.&nbsp; Concessions will be available to purchase including popcorn, drinks and more. We will also have a 50/50 raffle. Proceeds from this event will help fund the future educational extension of the nature trail, featuring the amazing Venus Fytraps! Tickets can be purchased here online, or at the Boiling Spring Lakes Community Center. The Boiling Spring Lakes Friends of Parks and Recreation&nbsp;is proposing an educational nature trail in Boiling Spring Lakes, located in Brunswick County, North Carolina, to create an elevated walkway to a native plant conservation area, featuring the amazing Venus Flytrap.&nbsp; The Venus Flytrap, vulnerable due to the threats from habitat loss, is a carnivorous plant that only grows and thrives in a very small radius around Wilmington, NC. Nowhere else in the world! Development in the area is rampant, destroying what little habitat that remains for the endemic species&#39; future.&nbsp; The Boiling Spring Lakes Friends of Parks and Recreation are working with the <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.facebook.com/NorthAmericanSarraceniaConservancy" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: initial; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">North American Sarracenia Conservancy</a> and the <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.venusflytrapchampions.org/" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: initial; user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Venus Flytrap Champions</a> to relocate imminently endangered plants to protected land, owned by the City of Boiling Spring Lakes. A partially elevated walkway, with an overlook at the end of the trail, would safely serve as an outdoor classroom to benefit local schools, youth programs, and the community and visitors in general.
