This exhibition explores Morrison&rsquo;s journey across places, histories, and cultures through vivid prints spanning his four visits to Brandywine. During his first visit and onward, he ventured further into figurative art, moving away from the abstract style he was known for. The name, A Peripatetic&rsquo;s Confrontations, is a nod to Morrison&rsquo;s upbringing, life, and an exploration into African culture that has travelled throughout the world and embedded itself within multiple histories and identities.&nbsp; As Brandywine reflects on Keith Morrison&rsquo;s life, it is with great honor that we display these works and express our gratitude for his continuous visits to the Workshop and above all, for being a friend to Brandywine. Keith Morrison: A Peripatetic's Confrontations

Brandywine Workshop &amp; Archives is proud to present two landmark exhibitions that reflect our commitment to artistic innovation, cultural exchange, and community storytelling. Supported by The Pew Center for Arts &amp; Heritage, PrintLab: Material Futures is the culmination of Brandywine&#39;s PrintLab Artist Residency, an initiative born from a grant awarded by The Pew Charitable Trusts. The residency invited eight artists to push their printmaking practices in new directions through scale, sound, animation, installation, and digital media. The intention was never simply to make the work larger, but to challenge each artist to discover something genuinely new within themselves and within the medium of printmaking. The resulting exhibition showcases ambitious works by Albert Chong, El Anatsui, Willie Cole, Delita Martin, Kakyoung Lee, Jocelyn Akwaba Matignon, Didier William, and LaVett Ballard, each reflecting the transformative possibilities of collaboration, experimentation, and artistic inquiry. Presented alongside PrintLab, &quot;WE&quot; THE PEOPLE commemorates the 250th anniversary of the United States by exploring the many communities whose labor, traditions, creativity, and resilience helped shape Philadelphia. Organized as a visual timeline around historical moments and cultural arrivals rather than geography, the exhibition traces Indigenous histories and pre-1776 land stewardship; nineteenth-century Black Philadelphia and self-determined communities; industrialization and European immigration; the Great Migration and the movement of Black communities northward between 1916 and 1970; African Diaspora connections and cultural exchange; Puerto Rican, Caribbean, and Latin American arrivals; Asian diasporas, entrepreneurship, and cultural exchange; and Brandywine Workshop &amp; Archives&#39; own role as a center for international artistic exchange. Its structure reflects a central premise: Philadelphia was not built by one community or one moment, but through centuries of movement, exchange, and collective contribution that continue to shape the city today. Together, these exhibitions invite visitors to reflect on the power of art as a vehicle for innovation, memory, identity, and connection. We are honored to welcome you into these spaces and grateful to celebrate this moment alongside the artists, communities, partners, and supporters who make this work possible.

Join artist Charles Mason III for an evening of printmaking, reflection, and conversation. Together, we&rsquo;ll explore how print can hold stories of care, memory, and everyday life, and how adding a found object to your work can transform it completely. &nbsp; Enjoy a relaxed sip-and-print session as you learn simple techniques, experiment with materials, and while learning more about artist in residence, Charles Mason III and Master Printers Justine Ditto and Alexis Nutini&#39;s practice.&nbsp; &nbsp;No experience needed; all materials provided and signature cocktails by Pentridge Station🍷.&nbsp;
