Join Brighter Horizons Equine for a three‑day, hands‑on workshop with Jon Eagle.&nbsp; Sung Nagi Kici Okiju: Becoming one with the Spirit of the Horse is not a horsemanship model; it&rsquo;s a way of life. Our ancestor&rsquo;s weren&rsquo;t just good horsemen, they were good relatives to the horse nation. They knew and understood the horse&rsquo;s abilities to affect people in powerful ways. The horse is like a mirror; they reflect back to us what we&rsquo;re sending out to the universe. Our relative, the horse, has healing abilities. Sung Nagi Kici Okiju is a unique experience that utilizes the spirit of the horse and the wisdom to reconnect, and better understand what of the Lakota/Dakota Oyate to help people to center themselves, reconnect, and find healing. Together, we will look at the four stages of life to gain a better understanding of who we are mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually. Sung Nagi Kici Okiju uses 95% ground and mounted exercises for use in the practice of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL). LEARNING STRATEGIES: Becoming one with the Spirit of the Horse helps to improve creativity, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and leadership skills. It builds upon strengths and helps to improve self-esteem, self-confidence, and self-awareness. By becoming one with the spirit of the horse, you will learn to center yourself, reconnect, and find balance. SPECIFIC LEARNING OBJECTIVES:1. Participants will gain an understanding of how unresolved grief has affected us as a people.2. Participants will gain an understanding of family culture by reflecting on their own.3. Participants will gain an understanding of the importance of developing positive relationships.&nbsp;4. Participants will gain an understanding of Sung Nagi Kici Okiju: Becoming one with the Spirit of the Horse. Jon Eagle is Hunkpapa Lakota and grew up on a ranch during a time when horses were vital to a ranch&#39;s operation. He has spent a lifetime learning to develop relationships with horses and people and is certified to provide Equine Assisted Psychotherapy (EAP) and Equine Assisted Learning (EAL) by both the Equine Assisted Growth and Learning Association (EAGALA) and Greg Kerstens, Ok Corral Series. Greg Kersten is the founder of EAP/EAL. In 2010, Jon co-founded the Northern Plains Equine Assisted Practitioners(NPEAP), a North Dakota State Non-Profit. The purpose of NPEAP is to promote the fields of Equine Assisted Psychotherapy, Equine Assisted Learning, Equine Therapy, Therapeutic Riding, Therapeutic Horsemanship and the healing powers of the horse. Membership consists of equine specialist and professionals across the State of North Dakota. Some of the programs and businesses involved are, North Dakota Path Inc., North Dakota State University, Dakota Boys Ranch, Prairie Learning Center, Home on the Range, Harmony Stables, Soaring Spirits Riding Center, and Sung Nagi Kici Okiju: Becoming one with the Spirit of the Horse, LLC. Jon Eagle Sr is an internationally known consultant with thirty-seven years of experience working with children, families and communities. He has twenty-eight years of experience consulting with federal, state, and tribal agencies, and is considered an expert on Systems of Care, the Wraparound Process, Equine Assisted Wellness, Cultural Competence and Leadership. Jon has done numerous workshops and trainings at tribal, state, and national conferences across the United States and Canada. He is currently the owner of Sung Nagi Kici Okiju: Becoming one with the Spirit of the Horse, LLC.
