From March 24 through March 31, all donations to the Community Relief Fund will be matched dollar-for-dollar, doubling the impact of your generosity.Capital Area United Way is always boots on the ground when our community needs us most. We are stepping up to fill the gaps during these times of uncertainty. Capital Area United Way’s Community Relief Fund will provide gift cards and non-perishable food items to support TSA workers - and federal/essential workers as a whole - serving our community who may be experiencing financial hardship. This fund helps cover critical needs such as housing, utilities, food, and transportation during times of uncertainty. 100% of every dollar raised stays local, helping individuals and families across the Greater Baton Rouge area access vital resources and maintain stability during this difficult time.________________________________________________________ Capital Area United Way and local food insecurity leadership suggest that one of the most effective ways to help is through monetary donations to this food drive, as they can leverage cash donations more efficiently to purchase needed items. Non-perishable food items and diapers are also needed to support the growing number of households impacted by lost income and suspended benefits. A box for a family of 2 is $42.50, which includes fresh produce and a protein and can items.A box for a family of 2 without protein is $35, including can items.A box of fresh produce for 4 is $25.A hot meal in a soup kitchen is $2.
