We foster a supportive community for emerging artists through open mic events, the National Capital Cabaret Festival, and educational events to allow singers to build confidence and showcase their talent while promoting engagement in the arts.

Curtain Call Monthly Open Mic, Presented by <a fr-original-style="" href="https://capitalcabaret.org" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: initial; -webkit-user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Capital Cabaret</a> Our monthly cabaret open mic is a great way for singers to put themselves in front of a supportive crowd to gain confidence and learn technique by watching other singers. Our open mics are hosted by seasoned performers and established accompanists in the Capital Region. Singers should prepare up to two songs with music charts or sheet music in the correct key.&nbsp;We are unable to connect media players for our open mic.&nbsp;Our accompanists do have iPads so you are welcome to bring digital sheet music that you can send them. Don&#39;t want to sing? No problem! Come support our singers and have a nice meal at <a fr-original-style="" href="https://www.barrelhousedc.com/" rel="noopener noreferrer" style="text-decoration-color: initial; -webkit-user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Barrel House Cafe &amp; Bar</a> while you listen to all the amazing talent! Open Mic manners<ul fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;"><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">It&#39;s pretty simple, really. Just follow these guidelines and you&#39;ll be golden!</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Keep patter/introductions succinct.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Socialize and converse between &ndash; not during &ndash; performances.</li><li fr-original-style="" style="box-sizing: inherit;">Have sheet music in the correct key in hand before you are called up to sing. We cannot connect phones or digital music players. This one-night event features two distinct performances&mdash;offering audiences the chance to experience emerging voices and seasoned artistry in one unforgettable night. Michael Shea: Psyche Knows The Way &ndash; 8:30 PMAward-winning performer Michael Shea takes the stage with his deeply personal and thought-provoking cabaret, Psyche Knows The Way. Blending storytelling, music, and emotional insight, Shea invites audiences on an intimate journey of self-discovery, resilience, and transformation&mdash;delivered with humor, vulnerability, and heart.
