🌟 Please Click "More details" Below! 🌟Care Free Medical provides comprehensive health care to low-income, underinsured, and uninsured adults and children from across Metro Lansing. As a non-profit clinic, we survive in large part thanks to the generosity and contributions of generous individuals like you.If you've been to the 1100 W Saginaw building anytime in the last two years, you'll know that we've been having increasing difficulty with the person who owns it. Last winter, the heat stopped working and we did our best to get by with space heaters in every room. But on days when the temperature was too cold, we did video visits from home.Likewise, this past summer, the air conditioning stopped working. We did our best to get by with portable cooling. But on days when the temperature was too hot, we had to do video visits from home.Unfortunately, in early December — despite assurances from the building's owner that he had installed a new heating unit — the pipes in the building froze and there was a large flood that caused severe damage to the building's electrical infrastructure. We learned the hard way that a new heating unit hadn't actually been installed. As a result, the city of Lansing has boarded up the building and will not reopen it until the owner hires an electrician to fix the extensive damage, so that the building is no longer a health hazard. We are pleased to announce that we've moved into our new building -- 1115 S Pennsylvania Ave, Lansing, MI 48912 -- and we are once again seeing patients in-person.While we are thrilled to have left the 1100 W Saginaw building, unfortunately, there are still thousands of dollars of medical equipment, like exam tables, chairs, medical supplies, and so much more inside the building, and the city cannot let anybody inside the building until the owner fixes the electrical damage. We were already making plans to leave 1100 W Saginaw. Sadly, the surprise flood and building closure meant that we've had to furnish the new office from scratch, without the ability to bring any of our belongings from that building. While moving to a new building was certainly in our budget, having to furnish a new building from scratch certainly wasn't.Every contribution you make will truly make a difference in helping us provide accessible healthcare to those in need.
