🚨 AUGUST is Clear The Shelters Month! That means we’re lowering our adoption fee to $75 per cat through August 31st! In addition, we’re offering our sponsors the ability to cover a cat’s adoption fee at the same rate, OR you can sponsor TWO adoption fees for $125. Your donation will increase our cats’ chances of getting adopted, and help a family give a loving home to a new family member!Cattyshack Inc. is a 501c3 nonprofit cat rescue. Our adoption fee covers all needed vaccines, microchipping and spay/neuter surgery for each cat. Our goal is to not only find homes for as many cats as possible, but to ensure their quality of life increases, and the overpopulation of animals in our community decreases. Panda’s StoryWhat a resilient kitten she is! She recently celebrated her 1st birthday by getting a CT scan. When Panda was 1 week old, she and her entire litter (plus Mom) got so sick with upper respiratory infections due to feline herpes. Mom’s milk dried up, so we had to syringe feed the kittens. To help their breathing, the ER vet gave us a small toolbox of medications. Steam also helped! We bought little hanging tents and hung them from the shower rods with kittens inside for 20 minutes at a time! One year later, Panda and her brother Panther still have a constant “miserable” runny nose. It’s way more that a little drip. It’s a constant struggle for them to breathe - especially when eating, drinking and sleeping. The CT scan confirmed that Panda’s left airway was completely blocked. A tissue sample was taken for biopsy, and that seems to have allowed her some breathing on that side - along with lots of mucus drainage. Panda puts up with so much, but she loves life! She enjoys playing in the kitten room with the other foster kittens in her home. Panther goes in the kitten room to gets his “run” in on the cat wheel, and both enjoy the warm moist air out on the catio. We are trying a new protocol with Panda. She gets compounded Benadryl 3 times a day. We are trying to turn off the turbinates from producing excess mucus! That will hopefully reduce the amount of white blood cells attacking her system, and settle her immune response.Thank you to everyone who has donated so far. We will keep you posted on her progress.
