25 for 250
For just over twenty-five years, The Classical Theatre of Harlem has been making magic happen uptown. Twenty-five years of creating transcendent works of theatre offered for free. Twenty-five years of professional artists placed in Harlem’s public schools to give lessons at no cost to schools or families. A quarter century of leveraging the crowds we draw to bring traffic to Harlem’s unique shops and street vendors. And it’s working. Harlem is over half a million dollars richer every July because of the economy we are able to create around our productions. Our park is a safer place in the summer due to our presence. There’s more for a big family with no budget to do in the evenings. There are more good jobs available uptown than there were before because The Classical Theatre of Harlem pays respect to our 150+ cultural workers with above market-rate compensation, drawing the finest professionals in our industry to do their work right here in Harlem. In honor of CTH’s recent 25th Anniversary, the 250th Anniversary of the promise of opportunity established in the founding of our country, and the glorious future we can achieve by working together, we humbly seek your support. Will you join us by pledging a contribution of $25 monthly to sustain and grow The Classical Theatre of Harlem’s work? With my deepest gratitude,Ty JonesProducing Artistic DirectorPS: What will your generosity make possible, you ask? This summer, we look forward to a bold new look at Shakespeare’s Othello, followed over the next two seasons with original commissioned sequels to last year’s bicoastal hit, Memnon by Will Power. These works, collectively titled The Aethiopes, will reintroduce the world to the lost mytho-historical heroes of Africa who shaped the dawn of civilization in Europe.
