Black Pot Cookoff Rules (Please read)&nbsp;We are excited to bring you the most diverse Cook-Off in Lake Charles history. Break out your cast iron pots and get ready to make YOUR BEST DISH. Daxton&rsquo;s Heart Warrior&rsquo;s invites you to join us for the Inaugural Black Pot Cookoff to be held November 7th, 2026, at the Enos Derbonne Sports Facility off of Lake Street in South Lake Charles. 100% of proceeds will be go to benefit children/ families facing severe congenital heart defects through the 501(c)3 Daxton&#39;s Heart warriors. The Cookoff set-up begins at 6:00a.m., with fires being lit at 7am sharp. Judging will commence at 11:00am and serving to the public begins at 12:00 noon. The entry fee per team per category is $100.00. This is a bring your own tables, 10ft x 10ft tent per category entry, and black pot event; and don&rsquo;t forget you&rsquo;re A-GAME. There will be 1 winner in each category (judges&#39; choice), and a people&#39;s choice award for best overall dish. Important Information and Rules1) You must cook in / on cast iron!2) 3 Categories Teams can enter:&nbsp;A. Woods &amp; Wilderness (Wild Game)&nbsp;B. Surf &amp; Shore (Seafood)&nbsp;C. Pasture &amp; Pen (Beef, Pork, Chicken)3) The entry fee is $100 per team, per category. Teams may enter multiple categories but must pay the entry fee for each.4) All entries must be paid by Thursday November 5th, 2026, to be guaranteed a space. Each registered/ paid entry will receive a 10x10 space to set up your tent, table, and supplies.5) All teams will need to keep their areas clean and sanitary. Bring garbage bags, etc. for good housekeeping and soap and water to help keep your area as clean as possible.6) NO PRECOOKED DISHES ALLOWED7) No smoking / vaping in cooking areas8) All teams can report to the Enos Derbonne Sports Facility to set up between the hours of 6am-7am on Saturday November 7th, 2026. For security reasons, NO TEAMS will be allowed into their cooking space before 6am. Cooking begins at 7am. General admission begins at 9am. Serving the public begins at 12 Noon.9) What to bring:a. Burners and tanksb. Cast Ironc. Cutting Boards, knives, cooking utensils, water, coolers, paper towels, soap, lighters, seasonings, ingredients.10) Once your team is set up and checked in with event staff, you may start your preparation for cooking. All cooking must be done within th full view of the public.11) There will be no electricity available to teams.12) Clean up will begin promptly at 1:30pm after the awards ceremony. All teams: the complex must be cleaned and emptied by 2:30pm and empty by 3pm.13) No other music sources or DJs will be allowed, only those hired by Daxton&rsquo;s Heart Warriors.14) All Dishes must be ready to start judging at 11:00am. You will be informed of the judging process the morning of the event. NO TEAM IDENTIFYING D&Eacute;COR ON JUDGING SUBMISSION. Dishes will be judged on the following criteria:a. Smellb. Consistencyc. Presentationd. Taste15) Serving to the Public will begin with an announcement at 12 Noon, not before.16) Teams may bring a banner or sign with their team&rsquo;s name / logo to display at their station.17) Any registered teams unable to attend will have their entry fee donated to the charity.&nbsp;
