DBQ Area Writers Guild

The Dubuque Area Writers Guild fosters a vibrant community for writers in the Dubuque area, offering workshops and resources to enhance creativity and collaboration among local authors.

All-day workshop sponsored by the Dubuque Area Writers Guild (DAWG) in the beautiful, historic Gehlen Barn. &nbsp;Cost includes coffee and food. DAWG is a fiscally sponsored affiliate of the Dubuque County Fine Arts Society (DCFAS), a registered 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization.

Writers Workshop

Join us for a writers workshop with Kevin Koch, hosted by the DBQ Area Writers Guild. This session will focus on how we write what we write. &nbsp; We will begin at 10:00 a.m., break for lunch, break again at 3:00 p.m., then gather at 6:00 p.m. for a public reading of our work. About Kevin Koch:Local writer Kevin Koch is Professor Emeritus of English from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa, where he taught several nature- and place-themed writing courses. He is author of four books:&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;- Skiing at Midnight: A Nature Journal from Dubuque County, IA&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;- The Driftless Land: Spirit of Place in the Upper Mississippi Valley&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;- The Thin Places: A Celtic Landscape from Ireland to the Driftless&nbsp; &nbsp; &nbsp;- Midwest Bedrock: The Search for Nature&rsquo;s Soul in America&rsquo;s Heartland.He also writes an Outdoors/Travel column for the Dubuque Telegraph Herald.
