LXCL:For 50 years, the Denton Bach Society has brought people together through great choral and instrumental music. Our mission is to provide dedicated and musically-trained singers the opportunity to bring high-quality choral and instrumental music to audiences in the Denton and greater North Texas community. Celebrate America 250 with the Denton Bach Society at our first concert, &ldquo;Baroque Roots, American Branches!&rdquo; Beginning with Bach&rsquo;s jubilant motet, Lobet den Herrn, enjoy American choral works from the Mayflower, the colonies, and 20th century classics. Join us as we perform music by William Billings, Aaron Copland, and Leonard Bernstein, and hear the distinctly American sound of the Sacred Harp and hymn tune classics! Baroque Roots, American Branches Choral Concert

Experience the grandeur of Handel&rsquo;s Messiah, performed with a Baroque orchestra as it would have been heard in the eighteenth century! Audiences around the world delight each and every year in the Christmas portion of Messiah. We will add to the majesty of this work by also performing the closing movement of Handel&rsquo;s masterpiece, &ldquo;Worthy is the Lamb.&rdquo; Don&rsquo;t miss this unique opportunity to hear Messiah like you never have before! Handel's Messiah Concert

Let the music paint a picture in your mind with our February concert, titled &ldquo;The Composer&rsquo;s Paintbrush: Early European Musical Imagery.&rdquo; Bach was a master of painting the words to music, and we celebrate composers that came before him that were also known for this engaging technique. Monteverdi, Josquin, Morley, Dowland, Lasso, and Sch&uuml;tz are featured as explore the many canvases that music can create. The unbridled joy of Bach leaps forth in music that he used for his Christmas Oratorio and B Minor Mass. The Composer's Paintbrush Choral Concert

The Denton Bach Society 2027 Competition for Young Musicians Vocal, Piano, and Instrumental Categories Saturday, April 24, 2027 3:00-8:00 PM Texas Woman&#39;s UniversityMCL Building1314 N Bell Ave, Denton, TX 76209 Specific audition times will be sent once all scheduling is complete. ELIGIBILITY: Contestants must be enrolled in a public, private or home school high school program, Grades 9-12. Students of voice, piano or an orchestral instrument may enter. Students residing in Denton County or these adjacent counties are eligible: Denton, Collin, Cooke, Rockwall, Tarrant, or Wise. Competitors must have turned 14 years of age by September 1, 2026.REPERTOIRE: Contestants are to prepare two challenging pieces of contrasting styles. Selections must be approved by the student&rsquo;s instructor and by the DBS audition committee. Audition time will be limited to 10 minutes. Participants may not be required to perform selections in their entirety, but the full 10 minutes will be heard.ACCOMPANISTS: Contestants must provide their own accompanist as needed. Their name and contact information must be provided on the entry form.FEE: An entry fee of $50 is to be paid online here.Deadline for Entry: April 9, 2027AWARDS: The winner in each division (Instrumental, Piano, Voice) will receive a cash award of $500.00, a $150 Gift Certificate courtesy of Pender&rsquo;s Music, and an opportunity to perform at a Showcase Concert on May 16, 2027 at First Presbyterian Church of Denton.APPLICATION FORMS: Complete the entry form below and submit it online. Competition for Young Musicians 2027

Our season-long world tour comes to a close with our Competition for Young Musicians Winners&#39; Showcase and final concert, &ldquo;Gloria! The Joy of Bach and Latin America&quot;&nbsp;Three different Gloria settings anchor the concert by Bach, Pinto Fonesca (Brazil), and Ariel Ramirez (Argentina). Music by rarely performed composers of the 18th and 19th century will be a highlight, which include Zumaya who worked in Mexico City at the same time as Bach, and Nunes Garcia who was the court composer in Rio de Janiero in Mozart&rsquo;s time. Vibrant harmonies and irresistible rhythms will fill your heart with joy!
