Together, we make a difference 💙Reclaiming Our Food, Our Land, and Our Future:For the last 20 years, the Detroit Black Community Food Sovereignty Network (DBCFSN) has been working to build a food system that belongs to our community. Through stewarding D-Town Farm, our 7-acre urban agricultural space, and opening the Detroit Food Commons (DFC), we have focused on creating community control over our own land, food, and local economy.Our work bridges the gap between grassroots urban agriculture and long-term institutional ownership. By supporting DBCFSN, you are investing directly in a self-sustaining ecosystem built to serve our city for generations to come.D-Town Farm: Building a Resiliency Hub:D-Town Farm sits on 7 acres inside Rouge Park, resting right along the local watershed and embedded deeply within the neighborhood. Over the last two decades, it has grown into a hub for sustainable urban agriculture and food justice education.Right now, we are actively working to develop the farm into a fully equipped climate and community resiliency hub. Your support helps fund crucial, long-term developments on the land, including:Infrastructure & Clean Energy: Implementing solar energy installations, secure site fencing, secure storage, and flexible outdoor hospitality setups.Art & Culture: Commissioning community art pieces that reflect the history, spirit, and agrarian heritage of our movement.Education & Labor: Supporting ongoing educational programming for youth and neighborhood residents, while directly hiring local contractors and laborers to build out and maintain the space.The Detroit Food Commons: Securing Total Building Ownership:On Woodward Avenue, the Detroit Food Commons (DFC) stands as our movement's physical and economic anchor, housing the Detroit People's Food Co-op, the Kujichagulia Community Kitchens, and the Mama Imani Humphrey Banquet Hall.While the building is open and actively serving the neighborhood, we are moving toward our next massive milestone. Next year, we are launching a major $15 million capital campaign to buy out Develop Detroit's portion of ownership.
