The Hay Supper Club
A quality food source for wild burros isn't a luxury. For the burros at Donkey Dreams, it is the foundation of everything — their health, their comfort, their ability to thrive for the next 50 years. That's why we're inviting you to become part of something simple and powerful.Contribute $5 to $50 a month and help us provide quality hay — and with enough support, we might even be able to secure a full year's supply at a significantly lower cost. Every dollar adds up. Every month matters. What they eat matters. One of the deepest acts of compassion we can offer these animals is food that makes them feel good from the inside out. In the wild, burros roam up to 10 miles a day, grazing a wide variety of fibrous, low-sugar plants that keep them naturally lean and healthy. At the sanctuary, we work hard to honor that. What we've learned is that donkeys are especially sensitive to sugar in their diet — and that the wrong feed can lead to weight gain, metabolic issues, and a painful condition called laminitis. So we made a change. We've moved to Teff — a higher quality hay that more closely mirrors what their bodies were designed for. The benefits we expect to see:Fewer donkeys struggling with weight gainLower risk of metabolic issuesHealthier hooves and less risk of laminitisFewer vet visits and less discomfort overallBetter hay means healthier bodies — more running, more playing, more of the joyful life they deserve — and fewer medical costs over time. It is one of the most meaningful investments we can make in their lives. The goal is simple.Full hay barns. Healthy, pain-free donkeys. Peace of mind for the family that cares for them — and for the community that loves them. That's the Hay Supper Club. We'd love for you to pull up a bale.Join the club →
