Join us on July 15 as we gather, refresh our knowledge, and practice our mediation skills.&nbsp; This practice session is designed for mediators and those who have taken our Introduction to Mediation workshop, with some experience in mediation required.

Mediator Practice Session

Are you interested in learning practical tools for recognizing, responding to, and reducing conflict in high-stress interactions? &nbsp; In this 1.5-hour de-escalation course, participants will learn to communicate with empathy and professionalism, and apply techniques that promote safety, cooperation, and constructive outcomes. Through discussion and real-world scenarios, the course emphasizes calm, respectful engagement and strategies that can be used in the workplace, community, and everyday settings.

De-Escalation Skills Workshop

Moira Downey, DSC Board of Directors, and Val Hanson, DSC Executive Director, warmly invite you to a gathering at Moira&rsquo;s home on Saturday, June 20th from 3&ndash;5 PM. Circle Keeper's Retreat

Learn the fundamentals of mediation and build skills you can apply in real-world settings. This in-person workshop introduces participants to the mediation process and the role of the neutral third party. Through a combination of clear instruction and supervised role-play practice, participants will develop practical tools for facilitating constructive dialogue and supporting others in reaching their own agreements.Participants receive guided feedback from Will Dudenhausen, DSC&rsquo;s Director of Training. Prerequisite: Communication and Conflict Resolution Skills.

Communication and Conflict Resolution Skills

Please join us for Community Circles, where we host a space to share values, reveal connection, and strengthen community. &nbsp; Our Circles this Spring will focus on Restorative Practices. DSC intern Amy Hall, Director of Wake County&rsquo;s Teen Court and a Master&rsquo;s student in Transformative Justice at UNC-Greensboro, will facilitate this Circle series. Saturday Morning Community Circles

Curious about why conflict happens &mdash; and how you tend to respond? This engaging, pay-what-you-can 90-minute workshop offers a practical introduction to conflict theory and conflict styles. Participants will explore the roots of conflict, examine different response patterns, and gain insight into their own approach. Accessible, interactive, and immediately applicable, this workshop serves as the entry point to our Community Education Series.

Connecting Across Divides is a chance to practice the lost art of talking with people we don&#39;t always agree with. Through interactive activities, real-world examples, and a little humor, we&#39;ll explore how curiosity, listening, and genuine connection can help bridge political and personal divides during election season.
