Earthkin Nature School

Earthkin Nature School believes access to nature is a birthright. We provide nature-based preschool programs for ages 3-5, fostering child-led exploration and community connection to nurture well-rounded individuals and a sustainable future.

The Roots Fund helps cover tuition costs for families who couldn't otherwise afford a spot in our nature-based preschool—because we believe access to nature is a birthright, not a privilege reserved for those who can pay full price. Every child deserves the chance to grow up with dirt under their nails, wonder in their eyes, and the natural world as their first teacher. But for too many families in Richmond, tuition is the one thing standing between their child and that experience. We believe our community is strongest when it reflects the full richness of the families who call Richmond home: different backgrounds, different incomes, different stories, all belonging together under the same trees. Every dollar you give goes directly toward tuition support, making it possible for more children—regardless of their family's financial circumstances—to join our mixed-age, nature-based preschool community. No child should be priced out of muddy boots, forest walks, and the kind of childhood that shapes a lifelong love of the earth and community. When you give to The Roots Fund, you're not just covering a cost. You're opening a gate. You're telling a family: you belong here too. You're helping build a more diverse, more connected, more rooted community—one child at a time. Help us make sure nature school is within reach for every family who wants it.🌳

The Roots Fund: Nature Preschool Tuition Support

Your gift helps keep Earthkin Nature School rooted in Forest Hill Park, a southside Richmond public park. It's here where our students learn with muddy boots, curious minds, and hands-on exploration. By donating, you support open-air classrooms, nature walks through the park's diverse landscapes, and access to place-based learning that nurtures community-building, care for the land, and a lifelong love for the outdoors. As a program operating on public land, we're charged a daily shelter rental fee throughout the school year — a cost that makes this outdoor learning possible, but one we rely on donor support to sustain. Every contribution helps us stay accessible to local families and keeps this green space alive as a place for children to learn and belong.
