Bring your family for a relaxed and engaging hike where kids can explore the woods, discover plants and wildlife, and learn how healthy ecosystems work. Our goal is simple: help kids fall in love with nature so they grow up wanting to protect it.COME EARLY FOR THE 9:30 AM Bananas, Coffee, Tea. All proceeds from this little pre-hike "hang" will go to support Sourland Conservancy and HVRSD ecoPTO. Hike will start at How the Hike Will WorkTo make sure everyone has a great experience, we’ll split into THREE guided groups:Younger Children Group will be led by outdoor education leader Nicole Langdo, founder of Painted Oak Nature School, who specializes in engaging younger children through hands-on nature exploration.Older Children Groups will be led by 1. Laurie Cleveland, the Executive Director of Sourland Conservancy, who will guide families for approximately 2.1 miles, observing the forest ecosystem and learning about conservation. This hike will be located on what AllTrails calls "Strawberry Hill via Summit". Be warned that it begins with a super cool, but potentially challenging steep scramble up rocks. Kids LOVE it, but should be closely monitored by parents. 2. Kari Lloyd, STEAM teacher and Family Hikes coordinator, who will take participants on a longer hike, depending on who attends, also observing the forest ecosystem and discussing conservation, with a little less stopping and a little more hiking.Who Should Come

Families with children ages 3-14

Parents who want their kids to get outside, learn, and explore

Anyone interested in nature, conservation, and community

All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.About the Series

Monthly family hikes (typically Sundays at 9:30 AM) alternating between Princeton and Hopewell trails.

Hosted by HVRSD ecoPTO & Littlebrook PTO

Organized by Kari Lloyd, K-5 STEAM Teacher at Littlebrook and member of HVRSD (Hopewell Schools) ecoPTO

Future hikes will explore other local trails with plenty of parking and space for families.

A Few Guidelines

All children must be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Please stay on the trails

Dress for the weather and wear comfortable hiking shoes

Bring water and curiosity!

Remember to check your family for ticks!

Consider wearing long pants to reduce the risk of contact with poison ivy,.

Families will also be asked to complete a waiver before participating. Here's the link to preview it: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1MIT6CiLkhg8bVhTu-7k3OagV_b7fyg2zqO_rtIi4yHs/edit?tab=t.0Interested? RSVP NOW to receive updates and invites to future hikes. We’re excited to build a community of families who explore, learn, and care for nature together.
