Edgewood Community Farm cultivates community resilience through sustainable farming, providing fresh produce while supporting immigrant rights and local initiatives. They empower communities to thrive together, fostering connections and social justice.

Come laugh with us at comedy night at the farm! Bring a picnic, grab some friends, and enjoy stand-up from some of the funniest comics in the DMV &mdash; all in a community greenspace right in the middle of the city. It&rsquo;s low-key, outdoors, and a really fun way to spend an evening. The show is produced by Zoo Animal Productions and usually features around six comics, including a headliner. Tickets are $10 and it&rsquo;s BYOB. Funny Farm: Pop-Up Comedy (September)

Come learn how to make your own amaro &mdash; the bittersweet, herbal liqueur behind some of your favorite cocktails. Thank you!*** Bats are among the most effective natural pest controllers on the planet &mdash; a single bat can eat thousands of mosquitoes and insects in a single night &mdash; but populations across the Mid-Atlantic have declined sharply due to habitat loss and white-nose syndrome. A well-placed bat box can provide critical roosting habitat right in your backyard while keeping your garden naturally pest-free. In this hands-on workshop, you&#39;ll build and take home a bat box designed for species native to Zone 7a, learning where and how to mount it for the best chance of attracting a colony, what to expect through the seasons, and how your efforts connect to broader pollinator and pest-management conservation. Forever Blooms: The Art of Drying & Preserving Flowers

Join us for Gardening 102, a relaxed, beginner-to-intermediate workshop for folks who want to level up their home gardening game&mdash;whether you&rsquo;re working with a few pots on a porch or a full raised bed setup. We&rsquo;ll cover the core stuff that actually makes gardens thrive: soil health, watering (too much vs. too little), mulching, composting, light, fertilizing without getting overwhelmed, crop rotation, seed starting, transplanting, and more, plus we&rsquo;ll dig into the real questions people always ask (like whether you should prune tomatoes, what kind of trellis works best for peas vs. cucumbers, why we sometimes use tomato cages for squash, and which perennials are great for low-maintenance growing). CANCELED // Come learn the basics of woodworking in this three-day workshop by building an approximately 18-inch-tall end table or coffee table, with participants choosing a length between 18 inches and 48 inches from live-edge slabs provided by the farm. The workshop will cover how to measure and plan a project; safely use essential tools such as a tape measure, sanders, circular saw, drill, and more; and complete each step of the build, including cutting, sanding, applying polyurethane, and attaching the legs. We&rsquo;ll also review basic shop safety and practical tips for tackling small DIY projects at home. All tools, legs, supplies, guidance, and expertise will be provided. Easy Lacto-Fermented Pickles

Pollinators like native bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds are essential to healthy ecosystems &mdash; and to our food supply &mdash; but habitat loss and the spread of non-native plants have made it harder for them to find the food and shelter they need. The good news is that even a small patch of native plantings can make a real difference. In this hands-on workshop, you&#39;ll learn how to plan and start a pollinator garden tailored to Zone 7a, including which native plants to prioritize for season-long bloom, how to prepare your soil, and how to design for both beauty and function. We&#39;ll cover what to avoid (invasive ornamentals that crowd out native species) and how your garden connects to broader pollinator conservation across the Mid-Atlantic. CANCELED // Come learn the basics of woodworking in this three-day workshop by building an approximately 18-inch-tall end table or coffee table, with participants choosing a length between 18 inches and 48 inches from live-edge slabs provided by the farm. The workshop will cover how to measure and plan a project; safely use essential tools such as a tape measure, sanders, circular saw, drill, and more; and complete each step of the build, including cutting, sanding, applying polyurethane, and attaching the legs. We&rsquo;ll also review basic shop safety and practical tips for tackling small DIY projects at home. All tools, legs, supplies, guidance, and expertise will be provided. Candle Crafting Basics

Join us for a cozy candle-making workshop with our friends at 51st Wick, where you&rsquo;ll learn the basics of wax, wicks, and scent blending while making your own custom candle to take home. It&rsquo;s a relaxed, hands-on class that&rsquo;s perfect whether you&rsquo;re brand-new to candle making or just want to try something fun and creative. Everyone will create one beautifully scented candle. Because the wax will be hot and unstable after you pour your candles, you&#39;ll need to return to pick up your finished candle after the workshop is over. Join us for a laid-back tea-making workshop where we&rsquo;ll walk you through how to harvest, dry, and blend herbs to create your own custom teas. We&rsquo;ll head out to the farm to pick fresh herbs, talk through simple drying methods, and play around with different flavor combinations so you can make blends that fit your taste. Everyone will head home with a set of homemade tea sachets made from herbs you harvested right here at the farm. Halloween Party at ECF

Join us for a hands-on seed saving workshop where you&rsquo;ll learn how to collect, dry, and store seeds so you can grow your favorite plants again next season. We&rsquo;ll break down the basics of seed saving, which crops are easiest for beginners, and how to avoid common issues like mold, pests, and cross-pollination. We&rsquo;ll walk through real examples from the farm, do a live demo of a few different seed-saving methods, and share tips for labeling and storing seeds so they stay viable long-term. Everyone will head home with a simple seed-saving guide, a starter seed packet (saved onsite), and the confidence to start building your own seed library at home. &nbsp;Thanks to a grant from the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, we&#39;re able to offer this workshop at a reduced rate of $5, waivable upon request.
