Farmer's Market Donation

We are excited to invite your students in to the garden for a one hour class full of hands-on exploration, discovery, and fun! Classes each week will follow the season and include planting, tending, harvesting, cooking, and nature-based crafts. Our program includes a social emotional learning component each week that can range from learning how to manage our emotions to working as a team.&nbsp; Parents, please plan to stay with your children who are 8 and under. All parents are welcome to stay :) UPCOMING LESSONS:April 23rd - Propagate Strawberries!Learn about how strawberries grow and create new plants. Take home a cutting to plant in your own garden at home! April 30th - Farm to Table SnackExplore the garden to see what&#39;s growing and in season. Learn how to harvest, prep, and cook a tasty dish to share. May 7th - Wildflower&nbsp;Seed BallsSeed balls are a hands-on, tactile craft that will teach kids about a flower&#39;s life cycle

Garden PlanningSaturday, March 7th at 10:00am-12:00pm Looking for help in planning your garden this year? In this workshop, we&rsquo;ll share with you our Reno-centric Garden Seeding Planner, which includes details on when to seed and transplant specific crops in this high desert climate. We&rsquo;ll help break down the process of garden planning and share our tips for maximizing garden space!&nbsp; Compost Building WorkshopSaturday, April 11th at 1:00pm-3:00pm In this workshop, we&rsquo;ll be sharing the process of how we manage and build compost at Farmily. You&rsquo;ll get to take part in building a compost pile at our garden and gain some helpful tips in creating your own compost system at home!&nbsp; Summer Crop Planting WorkshopSaturday, May 16th at 10:00am-12:00pm Now is the time to get those summer crops in the ground! In this workshop, we&rsquo;ll be going over the basics of planting and caring for corn, cucumbers, squash, tomatoes, peppers, green beans, and more. We&rsquo;ll include helpful tips on bed spacing, trellising, fertilizing, and companion planting.&nbsp; Organic Pest Management WorkshopSaturday, June 13th at 10:00am-12:00pm This time of year, the garden becomes a tempting oasis for everyone, including some uninvited guests! In this workshop, we&rsquo;ll be sharing our tips for managing and preventing common garden pests in our area, including squash beetles, aphids, and earwigs using organic practices.&nbsp; Garlic Harvesting WorkshopSaturday, July 11th at 10:00am-12:00pm It&#39;s garlic harvest time! Join us for a harvest session in the garden and learn more about the fundamentals of growing garlic. After harvesting, we&rsquo;ll show you some techniques for curing garlic, including garlic braiding. We&rsquo;ll send you home with a few heads that you can save to plant in your garden in the fall or enjoy in the kitchen!&nbsp; Seed Saving WorkshopSaturday, August 22nd at 10:00am-12:00pm Saving your own seed is a great way to take your garden to the next level! In this workshop, you&rsquo;ll learn about the many benefits of saving seed. We&rsquo;ll take you through the steps of harvesting and processing seeds from a few crops in the garden and provide some tips and insight on general seed saving practices!&nbsp; Fall Bed Prep WorkshopSunday, September 20th at 10:00am-12:00pm It&rsquo;s time to prepare our gardens for the fall and winter seasons. In this workshop, we&rsquo;ll walk you through a few of the techniques that we use for fall bed preparations, including cover crop seeding and mulching. You&rsquo;ll learn the importance of keeping soil health in mind when planning your fall and winter garden care. Let&rsquo;s end the growing season strong and set the garden up for success for next year!&nbsp; Pickling and Preservation WorkshopSaturday, October 3rd at 10:00am-12:00pm Let&rsquo;s celebrate the bounty of the harvest season and preserve some of our beloved summer crops! In this workshop, you&rsquo;ll get to make and take home a batch of pickles, made with a variety of veggies from the garden, and a dried herb blend.&nbsp;
