Are you ready to be part of the 99th Mountain Dance and Folk Festival®?&nbsp;On July 30, 31, and August 1, 2026, a different show will be presented live on stage each evening allowing you to appreciate the talent and dedication of the hundreds of musicians, dancers, and storytellers who are preserving the traditions of the Southern Appalachian Mountains. These traditions involve not only the hand-clapping, toe-tapping rhythms of Bluegrass, the style and stories of century-old ballads, the high energy of clogging, the elegance of Big Circle Mountain Smooth Dance, the fun and entertainment of storytelling, but also include an awareness of the hardships and trials that have brought us to this place and time.This 99th Mountain Dance and Folk Festival® has been made possible through the generosity of our music community volunteering their time and talent to preserve and promote the Southern Appalachian music, dance and storytelling heritage. Every registration to this event will bring us closer to achieving our mission. Together, we can create a brighter, more compassionate world for all. 99th Annual Mountain Dance and Folk Festival

This year’s raffle features another magnificent quilt made for The Folk Heritage Committee by Mountain Jam Circle. This design is called a “string” quilt, the “strings” being strips of leftover fabric that in the past might have included old clothes, sheets, or feed sacks. String quilts were popular in the rural south starting in the 1880s, and especially during the depression when sewing supplies were hard to come by. This queen-sized quilt has an estimated value of $1,000.

Local stained‑glass artist Bob Blackwell has once again crafted a stunning piece for our 2026 raffle&mdash;marking his fifth consecutive year of generously contributing his exceptional work. This year&rsquo;s artwork showcases a beautiful view of Lake Tomahawk in Black Mountain, NC, and comes complete with a display stand and rustic wooden frame. It&rsquo;s sure to draw plenty of attention, so be sure to purchase plenty of tickets. All proceeds support Shindig on the Green and the Mountain Dance and Folk Festival. Valued at $1,000.
