Hey folks. As we enter the new year, we have really cool projects to fund. The largest community project expenses we have are for the new community space and the cooking series that supplies freshly prepared food to the 24/7 community free fridge we operate.Benefits of the Community SpaceOur community facilitates our mutual aid work, community-building, and overall capacity-building. The community space hosts community events, workshops, teach-ins, and more, run by and for the community and supported by our volunteers. The community space also provides a space for community groups that align with our values to use for low or no cost, or in exchange for hosting workshops or contributing volunteer hours towards our community projects. The space additionally, and perhaps most importantly, serves as a safe meeting space for grassroots organizing and for people and groups who face state repression and/or who are typically marginalized and excluded in our local communities, due to things like racism and other forms of prejudice, bigotry, and oppression.Benefits of the Cooking SeriesThe cooking series currently provides x freshly prepared meals per month to the New River Valley community free fridge in Blacksburg, VA, helping feed our neighbors, many of whom face food insecurity, hunger, and malnourishment. With our aims to double this amount of meals per month, costs for the cooking series are all the more expensive.
