CORON ANIMAL SAVERS Ending the Suffering of Coron's Stray Cats and Dogs — One Rescue at a Time Coron Animal Savers is an animal welfare shelter that seeks to significantly reduce the profound suffering of stray cats and dogs in Coron, an island 170 miles southwest of Manila in the Philippines. Stray dogs and cats on the island are subject to widespread starvation, disease, uncontrolled population growth, auto accidents, exposure to the elements, lack of vaccinations and medical care, and are also victims of poisoning and physical abuse as the community struggles with the surging population of strays. Coron Animal Savers provides food, medical care (including rabies and other critical vaccines), shelter, and gentle kindness to improve living conditions for Coron's strays. The larger shelter is located on the main island of Coron, but due to a lack of space at the main shelter, additional animals are also cared for on an adjacent uninhabited island, owned by Victoria, the shelter's manager. Street feeding of starving strays is also undertaken as often as possible. In addition to meeting the direct care needs of these vulnerable animals, Coron Animal Savers is constantly fundraising to pay for the sterilization of free roaming animals, crucial to reducing the growing number of homeless, unwanted animals. These efforts not only reduce the suffering of Coron's stray cats and dogs but also have a positive impact on the safety and living conditions of Coron's full-time human inhabitants (via reduction in animal bites and possible rabies infections). Tourism is also an important economic contributor to the local economy, and well cared-for dogs and cats ather than starving homeless animals play a positive role in its continued growth. Eighteen members of our Global Harmony and Odyssey Community recently volunteered at Coron Animal Savers over the course of two days. The tremendous suffering and profound needs of Coron's burgeoning stray animals, combined with witnessing firsthand the inspiring leadership, unrelenting dedication and commitment that Coron Animal Savers marshals daily to improve the lives of Coron's animals, inspired many participants to privately donate funding to meet some of the shelter's immediate needs. In addition, many expressed the desire to remain involved with the remarkable efforts being made by Coron Animal Savers. Protecting the land and sea that connects us all. Advancing environmental stewardship through conservation, restoration, education, and hands-on initiatives that help preserve the natural ecosystems and biodiversity of the destinations we visit. Global Harmony advances environmental stewardship at every port we visit — through conservation, restoration, education, and hands-on initiatives that help preserve the natural ecosystems and biodiversity of the destinations along our route. From mangrove planting in Fiji to tree planting in Belfast, our residents show up to protect the places that make this journey possible. Your donation directly funds these environmental projects: native species restoration, reforestation, coastal and marine conservation, and educational partnerships with local environmental organizations in port. You'll receive a tax receipt for your donation. Our treasurers are notified of every contribution to ensure full transparency.
