This holiday program blends the brilliance of brass, organ, and percussion with moments of intimate a cappella singing and works for choir and piano. Audiences will hear carols and familiar Christmas favorites presented in fresh and exciting ways. Highlights from Chamber Singers include Jamey Ray&#39;s vibrant arrangement of Go Tell It on the Mountain&mdash;Ray is the founder of the internationally acclaimed vocal ensemble Voctave&mdash;as well as Pavel Chesnokov&#39;s powerful Spaseniye Sodelal. The full chorus offers moments of peace and reflection with Sarah Riskind&#39;s Sim Shalom and John Rutter&#39;s What Sweeter Music, balanced by exuberant favorites including Steven Strite&#39;s joyful arrangement of Joy! to the World, Mark Hayes&#39; spirited Masters in This Hall, Roderick Elms&#39; infectious Calypso Christmas, and Dan Forrest&#39;s thrilling setting of Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. The result is a holiday concert that is both reflective and festive, pairing tradition with fresh musical perspectives.

A Thrill of Hope

From timeless Broadway classics to contemporary musical theatre, this entertaining program showcases the storytelling power of song, with selections connected through narration that brings each work to life. Along the way, audiences will encounter themes of hope, friendship, perseverance, love, justice, and the enduring human spirit. Featured music includes favorites from West Side Story, Candide, Sunday in the Park with George, The Wiz, Dear Evan Hansen, Ragtime, and a spectacular Gershwin concert panorama.

Sounds of the Stage

The season concludes with a program that celebrates the richness and diversity of the choral tradition through two extraordinary twentieth-century masterworks. At its heart is Steve Dobrogosz&rsquo;s jazz-influenced Mass, an intimate and deeply expressive setting that blends lush string writing, soaring melodies, and subtle jazz harmonies into a work that is at once thoughtful, provocative, and profoundly moving. Paired with it is R. Nathaniel Dett&rsquo;s monumental The Chariot Jubilee, considered the first symphonic work built entirely on African American spirituals. This exhilarating fifteen-minute work weaves together scripture, folklore, and beloved spiritual melodies into a sweeping musical journey that moves from quiet reflection to triumphant celebration. Alongside works by Aaron Copland, Richard Smallwood, Rob Dietz, Ryan Murphy, and others, the program explores faith, hope, community, and the enduring power of music to inspire and unite.
