Green Cove Springs Preservation Society

The Green Cove Springs Preservation Society is dedicated to preserving the historical and cultural heritage of Green Cove Springs, promoting community engagement through events, education, and advocacy for local preservation efforts.

Come spend a September evening the way small-town evenings were meant to be good music, familiar faces, and neighbors gathered on the lawn of a beautiful old house. Porch Fest returns to the historic Rivers House on Friday, September 11, from 7&ndash;9 PM, featuring Brandon Leino, a hometown musician with deep Clay County roots. A Clay High graduate, local business owner, and longtime guitarist, Brandon brings the kind of music that feels right at home on a front porch.September Porch Fest offers several ways to attend and support the Rivers House:Free general lawn seating is available for guests who bring their own chairs.&nbsp;A reserved space for two is $20.The $40 &ldquo;Front Porch Supporter&rdquo; package includes a prime reserved space for two, two lemonades, and supporter recognition.&nbsp;The $100 &ldquo;Porch Patron&rdquo; package includes preferred placement for four and donor recognition as a member of the $100 Club.Porch Fest is free to attend, but it is not free to produce.&nbsp;Entertainment, security, insurance, and other event expenses must be paid.&nbsp;Our goal is to raise $1,500 during the evening so we can continue bringing live music to the Rivers House porch. Every reservation, package purchase, and donation helps keep Porch Fest going.

Learn how a local landmark shaped generations of students and continues to serve our community today.This program explores the history of Dunbar High School, its role in the community, and the work involved in repurposing the former Dunbar campus as the Augusta Savage Mentoring Center.Discover how a place created to educate generations of local students was preserved and given a new purpose as a center for mentoring, education, the arts, and community life. Its story demonstrates why adaptive reuse matters: it protects hard-earned memories while allowing a historic place to remain useful and meaningful.Hosted by the Green Cove Springs Preservation Society, this event connects past and present through photographs, documents, and personal accounts.Your registration helps support the ongoing stewardship of our historic roots and the places that define them.

Apply to be part of our Porch Fest Karaoke Contest on Friday, October 9, from 7&ndash;9 PM at the Rivers House, 219 Spring Street.There is a $20 singer entry fee and spaces are limited. Be sure to include the correct email address and telephone number on your application. When the singer limit is reached, selected singers will be notified by email and must provide their one song choice.You will be judged by the audience! Porch Fest ticket holders will vote, and overflow audience members may buy a $1 song ticket to cast a vote too.The winner takes home $120 in cash!Invite your friends, family, coworkers, and biggest fans to come cheer you on.
