Generous members of our creative community have donated their creative works to pitch in toward the Senior Center Foundation&#39;s Capital Campaign for expansion and renovation of the Senior Center. We have extended the auction until our Stars, Stripes &amp; Swing America 250 community event.&nbsp; 1)&nbsp;Bid on a one-of-a-kind quilt created to support the Foundation&#39;s expansion and renovation fund. Every stitch helps the Gulfport Senior Center Foundation continue supporting classes, wellness programs, and social activities that keep older adults active and connected. Artist BIO: Amy HowellI began focusing on taking my artwork to a new level in the five years since moving to Gulfport. I graduated with a BA in Graphic Design from the University of Illinois, Champaign-Urbana where I found my artistic expression in painting and photography.I am inspired by the abstract expressionists with their freedom of color, composition, and pushing the limits of possibility. I can relate to their dynamic energy with today’s current events which often influence the pieces I am working on. Working intuitively, I allow the piece to transform, like an evolving puzzle. I want the viewer to personally connect to my art if listening to music, responding emotionally with their own interpretation. My work is currently being shown at DRV Gallery in Gulfport. I am a member of The Morean Arts Center, the Warehouse Arts District Association, and the St. Petersburg Arts Alliance. I have been accepted to various juried shows including the Art Festival Beth-el, St. Petersburg, the Gulfport Fine Arts Festival, Five Deuces Gallery, St. Petersburg, Art Jones Artist Studio Tours, Gulfport, PAVA’s Cool Art Show, St. Petersburg, Gulfport’s International ArtOut, and the Warehouse Arts District Association, St. Petersburg.

<h2>Playwright and storyteller Nan Colton will bring to life Dora Maar – painter, photographer and Picasso’s muse.</h2>Dora Maar (1907–1997): Painter, photographer, poet and Picasso’s “muse,” Dora Maar photographed Picasso creating the famous black and white anti-war mural, Guernica. Dora captured with her camera each modification of the creation of a modern masterpiece. Her goal was to “to preserve photographically not the stages but the metamorphoses of a picture.” She is Picasso’s principal model, whom he often represented in tears –“The Weeping Woman”. Dora’s influence was to stimulate one of the most innovative periods of Picasso’s career. The complex personal and artistic liaison between Picasso and Dora would last nearly nine years spanning the outbreak of the Spanish Civil War to the end of the Second World War. (Her passionate and disastrous liaison with Picasso, ended in 1943.)In this presentation DORA MAAR shares her point of view of the roles she played as she stood literally center stage of the Surrealist movement as it was sweeping the art world of the time. It is a fictitious conversation recalling the most passionate and disastrous love affair of her life and her assessment during her later years of what she gained and lost.
