STEM Robotics Workshop (Ages 9+) Discover the exciting world of robotics, engineering, and technology in this hands-on STEM workshop using LEGO Education SPIKE Prime! Designed for beginners, this engaging 4-week series introduces students to the fundamentals of robotics through building, coding, problem-solving, and creative design challenges. Students will gain experience working with motors, sensors, and programming while developing critical thinking and teamwork skills in a fun and supportive environment. No prior robotics or coding experience is required. Younger students will have opportunities to draw and create while older students can take notes and participate in discussion throughout the presentation. Following the presentation, students will break into age-appropriate groups and participate in a variety of hands-on activities and interactive stations inspired by what they learned. ✈️ SNHA Career Spotlight Series: Meet a Pilot The Southern Nevada Homeschool Association is excited to launch our new Career Spotlight Series, connecting middle and high school students with professionals from a variety of careers and industries. Our first guest speaker, Mitch, is a private pilot who will share his journey into aviation and provide students with an inside look at the world of flying. Students will learn about:&bull; What it takes to become a pilot&bull; Flight training and certifications&bull; Different careers in aviation&bull; A day in the life of a pilot&bull; Aviation safety and responsibility&bull; Leadership, communication, and decision-making skills&bull; Opportunities within the aviation industry&bull; Live Q&amp;A 📅 Date: June 9th⏰ Time: 10:00 AM👥 Ages: Middle &amp; High School Students This is a great opportunity for students to hear directly from a pilot, ask questions, and explore a potential future career path. Recycling Center Tour&nbsp; Join us for an exciting behind-the-scenes tour of the Republic Services Recycling Center in Las Vegas! ♻️ This educational field trip gives students and families the opportunity to see what really happens after we place items in the recycling bin. During the tour, we&rsquo;ll follow the journey of recyclable materials as they move through the facility, learn how machines and workers sort different materials, and discover why proper recycling is so important for protecting our environment. Participants will learn: How recycling works from start to finish What materials can and cannot be recycled How recycling helps reduce landfill waste 🌎 Ways families can recycle more effectively at home This is a great hands-on learning experience that connects science, environmental stewardship, and real-world systems. Students will get to see massive sorting machines in action and gain a deeper appreciation for how communities manage waste and conserve resources. Gilcrease Orchard Spring Guided Tour 🥕

90 Joyful Music &amp; Art Explorers 🎶&nbsp;Students 4-7 y/o Participants will engage in music-making and learning music concepts through singing, chanting, dance, movement, drama, and the playing of percussion instruments. This class is based on the Orff Schulwerk approach to music learning. Improvisation, composition and the children&rsquo;s natural sense of play will be encouraged arts and craft to follow for a rich 90-min class. Key Components:Music Exploration: Explore rhythm, melody and harmony using singing, recorded music examples from various cultures, unpitched instruments like drums, rhythm sticks and shakers and pitched instruments called Boom whackers. 🎨 Creative Collage Art Class (All Ages Welcome!) Join us for a fun and creative collage art class where students will design a unique piece of artwork using recycled materials. We&rsquo;ll transform everyday items like paper, magazines, cardboard, and other materials into imaginative works of art. This class is open to all ages and creativity levels. Younger students are welcome but may need parental assistance during the activity. At the end of class, each student will have the opportunity to present their artwork to the group. Code of Conduct By attending any event hosted by Southern Nevada Homeschool Association, I agree to the following standards of behavior: 1. Respect and Courtesy: All participants are expected to treat fellow attendees, event staff, and volunteers with respect and courtesy. Discriminatory, disruptive, or harmful behavior will not be tolerated. 2. Adherence to Event Rules: Participants must follow all event-specific guidelines and instructions provided by event organizers, including those related to health and safety protocols. 3. Safety First: I will prioritize safety for myself, my children, and others by adhering to all safety rules, including those regarding equipment, behavior, and emergency procedures. 4. No Harassment or Intimidation: Harassment, bullying, intimidation, or offensive language will not be tolerated in any form. All participants are entitled to a safe and welcoming environment. 5. Participation Expectations: All participants, including children, are expected to engage appropriately in activities and be mindful of others. Parents or guardians are responsible for supervising their children and ensuring they follow event guidelines. 6. Dress Code Policy: To ensure a respectful, safe, and appropriate environment for all participants at events, workshops, and activities hosted by Southern Nevada Homeschool Association, the following dress code applies to all attendees, including children, parents, volunteers, and staff: Modesty &amp; Appropriateness &ndash; Clothing should be modest and suitable for a family-friendly environment. Clothing with offensive language, images, or slogans is not permitted. Coverage &ndash; Attire should cover undergarments and private areas adequately. Shorts, skirts, and dresses should be of a modest length. Footwear &ndash; Closed-toe shoes may be required for certain activities for safety reasons. Bare feet are not allowed except in designated areas. Activity-Appropriate Attire &ndash; Participants should dress appropriately for the event (e.g., athletic wear for sports activities, casual attire for classroom settings, and weather appropriate clothing for outdoor events). Prohibited Attire: Clothing that contains profanity, inappropriate graphics, or offensive messages. Sheer or excessively revealing clothing, including crop tops, short shorts, or low-cut tops. Pajamas or sleepwear (except for designated events). Costumes or accessories that may be disruptive unless permitted for a themed event. Enforcement: If a participant&rsquo;s attire is deemed inappropriate, event organizers or staff will address the concern privately. Individuals may be asked to adjust their clothing, cover up, or, in some cases, change into alternative attire. Repeated violations may result in exclusion from events or further disciplinary action. 7. Consequences for Misconduct: Any participant who violates this Code of Conduct may be asked to leave the event, and in some cases, may be prohibited from attending future events hosted by Southern Nevada Homeschool Association.
