Hood Canal Improvement Club

The Hood Canal Improvement Club fosters community engagement and environmental stewardship in the Hood Canal region through events, education, and support for local initiatives, aiming to enhance the quality of life and preserve natural resources.

Summer Social 2026 is a relaxed community and family-friendly event featuring live music by Chris Eakes, local food trucks, games, site tours and good ole fashioned fun in a scenic setting. Take in a hike at the Theler Wetlands before or after - pets are welcome (some hikes are not pet friendly). Your $10&nbsp;TICKET includes: Live music, venue/staffing, cake and non-alcoholic beverage costs - thank you! We will have our reception desk staffed with volunteers to accept day of payments as well.&nbsp; Food Trucks are NOT HOSTED but conveniently accept cash or debit/credit cards. We are working on 2-3 different trucks offering diverse LOCAL food options.&nbsp; Parking is conveniently located by the barn and other areas throughout the Salmon Center&#39;s property. With the help of donors, volunteers, and staff, the Hood Canal Salmon Enhancement Group (HCSEG) participates in restoration and research projects throughout the entire Hood Canal Watershed in the western part of Washington State. These efforts not only benefit local salmon populations, but also support the ecological diversity of this beautiful and scenic natural community. In addition to habitat restoration and research, HCSEG carries out an assortment of educational programs, supporting students, teachers, and life-long learners. Located next to the Union River estuary, HCSEG&rsquo;s headquarters, the Salmon Center, has a beautiful, certified organic garden, as well as a variety of farm animals, (llamas, alpacas, chickens, ducks, goats, etc.), to demonstrate how salmon, humans, and agriculture can coexist.

Join us for Sasquatch! 🐾 A playful nod to our local legend and a chance to come together as neighbors. This event supports the Hood Canal Improvement Club&rsquo;s work to care for our environment and strengthen community connections. We will be at the beautiful SACRED WATERS not the Union Fire Hall. It will allow us to have more room for this exciting program.&nbsp; Featured Professional Speaker:BIGFOOT! THE PAST. THE PRESENT. AND BEYOND. Marc Myrsell is a lifelong land surveyor in Oregon and Washington. Born in 1966, he became enamored early on with lost histories and enduring mysteries. Best known for the rediscovery of the 1924 Ape Canyon cabin&mdash;his &ldquo;claim to fame and infinite riches&rdquo;&mdash;Marc continues to dig deep into shadowy, mildew-scented paper archives in search of long-forgotten accounts. He then takes that historical evidence into the field, searching for physical traces of reported monster attacks while also working with contemporary witnesses throughout the Pacific Northwest.
