The Toby Project: Fuel the Journey to Care
Every week, medically complex families drive to specialists, therapies, emergency rooms, and out-of-town hospitals.Gas is not optional. But when one parent often stops working to become a full-time caregiver, even something as simple as fuel becomes a burden - and it directly affects access to care.Therapies, medications, specialist visits, durable medical equipment, medical supplies… and the miles it takes to get there. These are the expenses insurance often doesn’t cover. And they add up quickly.Through The Toby Project, families receive a minimum $50 fuel stipend to help cover the miles to critical care, along with the possibility of additional support for the uncovered medical expenses that too often stand between families and the treatment they need.Your support helps provide assistance for things like:• Physical, occupational, and speech therapy• Specialist and doctor visits• Medications and treatments not covered by insurance• Durable medical equipment and medical supplies• Gas and travel costs for out-of-area appointments• Emergency hospital trips and unexpected admissionsBecause sometimes the difference between getting care and missing it …is simply the cost. The Story Behind The Toby ProjectThere was a season when we practically lived in our car.Back and forth to specialists. Midnight emergency room visits. Out-of-town hospital stays. Therapies that couldn’t be missed. Paying with change to purchase essential supplements or care-items. The list goes on.Gas wasn’t optional. But it was heavy. The Toby Project was born from those miles. From our very own young man, Toby, who saw the weight families like ours carry and asked a simple question:"How can I help?"He saw what it looked like to calculate whether there was enough fuel to make it to the next appointment. To quietly hope the gas light wouldn’t come on before payday. These are moments children in medically complex families witness too.And Toby wanted to change that.So today, The Toby Project helps carry families forward - helping cover the uncovered expenses that stand between them and the care they need.Because when insurance falls short, community can step in.And when you give, you’re not just filling a tank or covering a bill. You’re helping a family reach hope. These aren't just roads or services. They're hope filled journeys...and because of you, families won't have to travel them alone.
