Humble Design transforms lives by providing furnished homes and supportive services for families transitioning out of homelessness, empowering them to create a stable and nurturing environment for their children.

Design With Purpose 2026 is Humble Design Detroit’s second annual upcycling competition, bringing together leading architecture and design firms who partner with manufacturers and dealers to transform donated furniture into beautiful, functional pieces for future Humble Design homes. Teams selected their items during a warehouse visit earlier this summer and have spent the past several weeks upcycling them with creativity, intention, and care. Voting kicked off at the Interior Design Exchange event on September 9 and continues through the Welcome Home Gala on September 24, where all pieces will be displayed and guests will vote live. The team with the most votes wins a Humble Design Day of Joy, valued at $4,000 — a full home‑furnishing experience for a family emerging from homelessness. All upcycled pieces return to our warehouse where they will be placed in a client home. Vote, vote, vote for your favorite team! All voting proceeds benefit Humble Design Detroit and help us design and furnish homes for our neighbors emerging from homelessness. We welcome people home so lives are changed for good.
