On Purim, we remember that when Haman sought to destroy us,&nbsp;we were united in danger and we were united in salvation.&nbsp;Therefore, we celebrate together.&nbsp;And on Purim day, we give together.The mitzvah of matanot la&rsquo;evyonim, gifts to the poor,calls upon every Jew, men and women alike, including children,to give to those in need.&nbsp;Even one who is struggling gives.&nbsp; On Purim, we do not scrutinize or investigate.&nbsp;We give with trust, dignity, and open hearts.This year, we have the sacred opportunity to join together and collectively provide a meaningful Purim gift to three needy Jewish veterans within our iJChap community:&bull; A WWII veteran&bull; A veteran of Afghanistan&bull; A veteran of Iraq Each answered the call of service. Each has carried unseen burdens of PTSD. Each now faces financial strain alongside those emotional wounds. Rather than fulfilling the mitzvah at a minimal level, we invite you, if you are able, to partner in giving a larger, unified gift&nbsp;that brings real joy and relief. Our Sages teach that on Purim,&nbsp;&ldquo;Whoever stretches out a hand, &nbsp;we give to them.&rdquo; &nbsp;We do not measure worthiness; we respond with compassion.Chazal further teach that One who gladdens the hearts of the poor resembles the Divine Presence itself.&nbsp;The prophet tells us that the Al-mighty dwells &ldquo;with the broken and humbled of spirit.&rdquo;&nbsp;When we bring joy to those who are struggling, we invite G-d&rsquo;s Presence into our own homes. It is well known that generosity on Purim carries special blessing.&nbsp;The Rambam writes that there is no greater joy than gladdening the hearts of the poor, the orphan, the widow, and the stranger.&nbsp; When we do so, G-d responds measure for measure, expanding blessing, protection, and joy upon those who give. JOIN US in this collective Matanot La&rsquo;Evyonim Veterans Fund,&nbsp; All funds will be distributed on Purim day in accordance with halachah. May the merit of caring for those who once protected us Bring abundant blessings from the Al-mighty,&nbsp;blessings of health, sustenance, nachas, and true simchato you and your household.
