Jamesburg Historical Association Presents &quot;A Dinner with History&quot; The Jamesburg Historical Association (JHA) will host &quot;A Dinner with History&quot; on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, at the Jamesburg Elks Lodge, doors open at 5:30 p.m. The evening will feature local author and historian John D. Katerba, joined by JHA Board Director Kyle Johanesson, who will present an engaging look at Jamesburg and Monroe Township&#39;s involvement in the American Revolution and the years that followed. The approximately one-hour presentation will be accompanied by dinner and drinks, offering guests a unique opportunity to enjoy local history in an engaging setting. Ticket includes light appetizers, non-alcoholic refreshments, catered Italian dinner, and a presentation seat. (Cash bar will be open for ticket holders 21+) A lifelong resident of the Monroe Township&ndash;Jamesburg area, John Katerba has dedicated his life to preserving the area&#39;s rich history through its artifacts, documents, and stories. He is the author of three books on the history of Jamesburg and Monroe Township and brings an extraordinary depth of knowledge that history enthusiasts of all ages are sure to appreciate.

JHA - Dinner with History

A cemetery is a refuge for peaceful contemplation. The grave markers in a cemetery are a quiet yet intriguing connection to the people who lived where we live now.&nbsp; The Jamesburg Historical Association will host a tour of Fernwood Cemetery on Saturday, September 26, at 2 pm (rain date: Sunday, September 27, at 2 pm). This free event is the inaugural program in a series entitled &ldquo;Jamesburg&rsquo;s Hidden History.&rdquo; Fernwood Cemetery is located on fourteen acres extending upward from Forsgate Drive. The tallest monument, at the top of the hill, is a memorial to Civil War soldiers. The second tallest monument honors the Buckelew family, which included leaders of industry and philanthropy in the 19th century. In between these obelisks is the mausoleum of the Helme family (after whom Helmetta was named).&nbsp; People who are buried in Fernwood Cemetery lived in the past but influenced our present day lives. These include a railroad builder, an inventor, a composer, an ambassador, and numerous educators and veterans. Learn about funerary sculpture that reflects contemporary styles, personal affluence, and our forebears&rsquo; beliefs about life and death. (You can also peek through the mausoleum window.)&nbsp;
