The Josh Project empowers underserved children with essential swim safety skills through affordable lessons and education, aiming to prevent drowning tragedies and ensure every child can enjoy the water safely.

The Josh Project is hosting Water Safety Day 2026, a free community event dedicated to drowning prevention and water safety education for children and families in Toledo. Water Safety Day is an annual community event held in recognition of Water Safety Month, and the City of Toledo has officially designated Water Safety Day to highlight the importance of drowning prevention and community education. This family-focused event brings together safety professionals and community partners to provide: &bull; CPR education&bull; Life jacket fittings&bull; Water safety education&bull; Community resource tables&bull; Kid-friendly activities&bull; Open swim with certified lifeguards&bull; Parent water watcher education&bull; Food and beverage options on-site Our partners also share information about youth programs, mentorship opportunities, family services, and community resources, helping families connect with support beyond the pool. Our goal is simple: protect lives and educate families while creating a fun, safe, and welcoming experience for our community. Your donation helps cover essential event costs such as: &bull; Safety supplies and life jackets&bull; T Shirts (Volunteers)&bull; Educational materials&bull; Kids activities and prizes&bull; Printing and signage&bull; Pool safety resources Every contribution, big or small, directly supports life-saving education and access to water safety programming. On August 6, 2006, Josh&rsquo;s life was tragically cut short by drowning. In the midst of unimaginable loss, our family made a promise: Josh&rsquo;s story would not end in tragedy. It would become a legacy of hope, education, and lifesaving action.Today, that promise is The Josh Project. For two decades, Josh&rsquo;s legacy has opened doors for children and families by removing barriers to swim instruction, expanding water safety education, strengthening emergency preparedness, and creating opportunities that help save lives. But our work is far from finished.Every year, too many families experience the devastating impact of drowning. Together, we have the power to change that. Your gift will help provide lifesaving swim instruction, water safety education, emergency preparedness initiatives, and scholarships so that every child, regardless of their family&rsquo;s financial circumstances, has the opportunity to learn skills that could one day save their life.
