What started as a small studio for creative kids became a lifeline for artists, families, and our community.After surviving medical hardships and a devastating flood, we are now working to rebuild Kaizen Artz into a permanent creative home where imagination can continue creating real change. Hi, my name is Elaine Carrasquillo, founder of Kaizen Artz in Appleton, Wisconsin.The idea for Kaizen Artz began one Saturday while watching my son play flag football. I looked around and saw families, neighbors, and friends all gathered to support these young athletes. It was beautiful to see our community rally behind children and their passions. Then I looked over at my two daughters, who are incredibly creative but not athletic, and I started thinking about all the artistic kids in our communities. The dreamers, creators, photographers, designers, and musicians whose talents are often developed quietly at home without the same spaces, encouragement, or recognition. I wondered what it would look like if creative kids had that kind of support too. That question became Kaizen Artz. Within three months, we opened our first studio and began offering creative classes for local youth. Since then, we have watched shy students gain confidence, young artists proudly sell their first pieces at our Artpreneur Fair, and children light up after seeing their artwork displayed in our studio. As we grew, I realized this need extended far beyond children. So many adults in our community had quietly put aside their creativity because life became busy or resources were unavailable. I knew we needed a space where people of all ages could come together to create, learn, teach, and reconnect with their passions. Then, in January 2026, our family faced a medical emergency when my daughter underwent a major spinal surgery. During that difficult time, our art instructor, Mrs. Emily, kept Kaizen Artz running for our students while I stayed by my daughter&rsquo;s side in the hospital. Just as we began settling back into normal life, our studio flooded during Wisconsin&rsquo;s historic spring storms. Because our studio was located in a basement, failed sump pumps caused major water damage and forced us to temporarily close the space.Although this season has been incredibly difficult, it has only strengthened my belief in what Kaizen Artz can become. Our goal is to raise enough funds to move into a safer and more accessible facility, expand our programs, and fully open the studio to the community. We want to create a space where children and adults can access tools, workshops, mentorship, and opportunities they may not otherwise have. My dream is for Kaizen Artz to become the YMCA of the arts. A place where creativity brings people together, builds confidence, inspires purpose, and creates meaningful change in our community. What started as a small studio for creative kids became a lifeline for artists, families, and our community.After surviving medical hardships and a devastating flood, we are now working to rebuild Kaizen Artz into a permanent creative home where imagination can continue creating real change.Hi, my name is Elaine Carrasquillo, founder of Kaizen Artz in Appleton, Wisconsin.The idea for Kaizen Artz began one Saturday while watching my son play flag football. I looked around and saw families, neighbors, and friends all gathered to support these young athletes. It was beautiful to see our community rally behind children and their passions.Then I looked over at my two daughters, who are incredibly creative but not athletic, and I started thinking about all the artistic kids in our communities. The dreamers, creators, photographers, designers, and musicians whose talents are often developed quietly at home without the same spaces, encouragement, or recognition. I wondered what it would look like if creative kids had that kind of support too.That question became Kaizen Artz.Within three months, we opened our first studio and began offering creative classes for local youth. Since then, we have watched shy students gain confidence, young artists proudly sell their first pieces at our Artpreneur Fair, and children light up after seeing their artwork displayed in our studio.As we grew, I realized this need extended far beyond children. So many adults in our community had quietly put aside their creativity because life became busy or resources were unavailable. I knew we needed a space where people of all ages could come together to create, learn, teach, and reconnect with their passions.Then, in January 2026, our family faced a medical emergency when my daughter underwent a major spinal surgery.
