Katies Cat Rescue

Katie's Cat Rescue is dedicated to rescuing and rehoming abandoned cats, providing them with care and love until they find their forever homes. They aim to reduce the number of homeless cats and promote responsible pet ownership.

As it stands, we currently house 20+ cats & kittens at any given time, which primarily consists of “Families.” We typically rescue momma cats, pregnant cats, orphaned kittens, kitten siblings, & cat families. We take in bottle babies, special needs, injured & sick cats & kittens very often. The cats start out in medical crates, 24 hours a day. This is the intake protocol, while we treat all contagious health concerns that strays & high-risk cats have most often. Once they are confirmed non-contagious & we have no reason to isolate, they still remain crated, but are then able to either join other crates, with the other healthy cats, and/or get time out of their crates to play & socialize together. We currently have 20+ cats, as well as supplies for all of those cats, in ONE ROOM. I do not own the house, therefore can only use the space I am given, along with permission of when, where, how many, & how to house these cats. I have been desperately searching & saving, trying to find a much better space for the rescue. My goal, is to create the BEST space for all cats in our care, to enjoy their time with us, while we fill the time gap until their forever home. I want my rescue, to be a safe, fun, loving, & COMFORTABLE place for every cat who comes in. My hope is to have a much larger, much more comfortable space, in which we have more of a say, in how the rescue does things, such as being able to provide free-roaming areas, in addition to medical areas. Being able to help MORE cats, & the ability to have volunteers HELP take the load off of me!Not only would this be much safer for all of the cats, but it would make them much happier. Abandoned, stray, sick, homeless, & special needs cats don’t deserve to be stuck in a crate all day. They DESERVE the chance to heal, grow, play, & THRIVE. A cat deserves to BE A CAT. While being at this rescue is still better than being cold, alone, starving, & in a constant state of stress; We could do much better with the space in which we house these homeless & suffering cats. With thousands of dollars each month already going towards their kibble, wet food, litter, litter boxes, trash bags, bottled water, toys, beds, crates, spay/neuters, medications, medical tests, veterinary visits, teeth supplements, immune support, probiotics, goats milk powder, & SO MUCH MORE; It’s hard to financially support everything myself. I won’t be able to continue rescue much longer if I can’t find a better space. In addition, the water at the rescue is toxic. This means the water used to bathe flea infested kittens & stinky sick kitties, wash their dishes & bedding, & generally care for, is UNSAFE. They can’t drink the water, but we can’t use bottled water for every water-necessary tasks. They are also housed in one room, with crates literally stacked on top of one another, in rows & as many crates that will fit in the ONE ROOM, along with hundreds, if not thousands of supplies needed to care for them. The rescue also doesn’t own, or have any rights to the location either, nor does the rescue control how many cats, which cats come in, where they stay, what they can do; It also means, that if me & my boyfriend break up one day, what happens with the cats?? Essentially the cats have to count on me & my boyfriend staying together, & HIM ALLOWING them all to stay here. Ultimately, it comes down to support from the community, as the only way a safer, more-comfortable, more-reliable space would be possible. If you have read this far, I’m sure you’re also asking yourself “How do you plan to use these funds?”Well, I’d like to either purchase a house to live in while doing rescue full time, to create a RESCUE OWNED, Home-Based Rescue, like we are now, or to upgrade to becoming a PUBLIC SHELTER LOCATION; Which is ultimately the end goal. As far as funding, i would need about $40,000+ in order to secure a loan for a $200,000 OR LESS location. I would also need the funds for:Moving - Trucks, movers, supplies, etc.Setting up - this would vary depending on the type of space it is, obviously a commercial space would have higher expensesUtilities for the first 6-12 months AT LEASTContinued health care costs for cats in my care before, during & after upgrading the locationCosts to openUnexpected expenses & more!For the detailed reasons listed above, I’m asking for a donation amount totaling $65,000. I do not plan to touch any funds donated, until we find a perfect space. The only reason I would access any of these funds early, is for medical and/or emergencies. Otherwise, I will continue saving & accepting donations in the meantime & hope to upgrade to the perfect rescue space soon. I am continuing to clean homes, find kitties their forever homes, & other means of income to make this dream a reality; Although it would benefit many cats even faster, with your support. Help a rescue, find its HOME!

We are less than 6 months away from loosing our housing quarters for the cats. We currently utilize 2 - 212sq ft rooms & a small full bathroom on the top floor in my boyfriend’s home. We have one quarantine room for all incoming, sick & unvetted cats to start out, and then we house the adoptable & fully-vetted cats in the free-roaming playroom. We have many limitations on the electric we are allowed to use, the amount of cats we can house, amount of volunteers who can help us, and how we can set up the cat rooms. (Restrictions include : no drilling holes or putting things on the walls, so no wall furniture for the cats, no TV for bird sounds, and, limited heat in the winter / limited AC in the summer, no night-lights on at night. We also arent allowed to utilize community service volunteers. We aren’t allowed to house any feral cats, which is an extremely important part of rescue, and something we plan to do once we have the ability to do so. Then there’s also the physical limitations we have with our current set up. It’s on the top floor, so carrying heavy & most-used items, such as food and litter, up the steps is a major struggle. We average 4-7 bags of trash per clean, that we have to get out to the garbage. And overall, it’s a lot of work & takes away important energy I coulda been using to do something else for the cats. It takes twice as long, and twice the energy & often requires a lot more humans, to do basic things we currently do daily. We are looking to upgrade our space, and have a space of our OWN, specifically with the cats well-being as priority. So who are we?Katie’s cat rescue is a 501c3 nonprofit dedicated to taking in all the strays, hoarding/abuse/neglect cases, unwanted owner surrenders, and kitties who aren’t stable enough to be rehomed, need additional socializing, or they’re homeless and have no where to go. We primarily take cases that are harder and often rejected by bigger shelters, such as families & multiples of cat situations. We often take in the medical cases & even feral cats. We take in all of the cases who are told “No.” and then referred to us, by the humane society. We want to continue our mission, and continue helping cats & saying yes to our community member pleas for assistance. But the hard truth, is that we are running out of time. Without a place to house the cats, many of which who aren’t stable enough to go to foster homes, whether because they need socializing, or medical attention; Regardless, the first step is always for me to get them stable & well. And without the space to work with the cats, we can’t work with them at all. If every person we have helped in some way, contributed $50.00 to this campaign, we would have more than enough funds already. But we oftentimes are called in BECAUSE nobody had or offered financial assistance. Because they couldn’t afford it. So what do we plan?We need a home, with enough space for me (The founder) to live in, while caring for the cats full time. The home would need one bedroom, kitchen, & bathroom for me, as well as a quarantine room, intake room, & then playroom or play area for the vetted cats to roam. We have the option to buy a home in butler, that needs a ton of cleaning, since cat hoarders lived in it, & some renovations. It would be a perfect starter home, as it’s small & in an area that needs a lot of cat assistance. We would continue feeding & trapping the strays who frequent the area as well. We have the chance to purchase this home for 60,000$ from a man I have worked with for kitties, and we’re still actively trapping there. The extra 15,000$ we are requesting, would be to help with the move, renovations, cleaning & so on. We don’t have much time, so if we can’t raise it before he sells it, we will be back to square one and will need another property goal. So if you can donate, please consider giving what you can.
