Every May, young pianists from across Idaho &mdash; some as young as six &mdash; walk onto the stage of the Stephens Performing Arts Center and perform on a nine-foot Steinway for a full concert hall. Last year, students from seven Idaho counties competed at GEMS. One in four &mdash; could only be there because someone covered their entry fee. That someone could be you.GEMS is East Idaho&#39;s statewide piano competition, built on a simple promise: no dedicated young musician is turned away because of what their family earns. Judges with doctorates from Eastman, Rice, and the University of Utah travel to Pocatello to give every student written professional feedback &mdash; the kind of opportunity most kids in rural Idaho would otherwise never receive.Last year, students took home $8,330 in awards. &nbsp;We kept fees low by absorbing the shortfall ourselves. Help us keep that promise for GEMS 2027, May 13&ndash;15.
