Lakewood Service League

Lakewood Service League empowers East Dallas through volunteerism, providing over 150,000 service hours and $3 million in donations to local nonprofits. Their mission is to support community needs, fostering connections and improving lives for all.

Join Lakewood Service League for our annual fundraiser, the Chari-Tea, on Wednesday, October 21, 2026, at Lakewood Country Club. Doors and check-in open at 1:15 PM, with a welcome reception to follow before the program begins at 2:00 PM and runs until 4:00 PM. The afternoon will feature a silent auction, a wine pull, and a very special guest speaker: Darren McGrady, author and former personal chef to Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Diana. After training at the Savoy Hotel in London, Chef McGrady spent years serving the Royal Family across Buckingham Palace, Windsor Castle, Sandringham House, and Balmoral Castle before becoming personal chef to Princess Diana and her sons, William and Harry. Over his distinguished career, he has also cooked for five U.S. presidents, including Ronald Reagan, George H.W. Bush, and Bill Clinton. We can't wait to hear his stories! Lakewood Service League is a volunteer-driven organization founded in 1982 and dedicated to serving the East Dallas community. In over four decades, our members have contributed more than 150,000 hours of service and made over $3 million in direct donations to our nonprofit partners, including Wilkinson Center, Austin Street Center, New Friends New Life, Jubilee Center, VNA – Meals on Wheels, CC Young, DCAC, and Juliette Fowler Communities. Your ticket purchase directly supports these organizations and the neighbors they serve — young and old, from all walks of life. We hope to see you there!
