Life Source Affordable Counseling

LXCL:Life Source Affordable Counseling is committed to expanding access to high-quality, affordable mental health care for underserved communities while fostering the growth of emerging therapists. Through accessible counseling services and educational workshops, we work to reduce barriers to care, strengthen emotional well-being, and equip our community with practical, compassionate mental health support.

This session will dive into a popular facet of the Internal Family Systems (IFS) model, working with the extreme and wounded self parts that come up in IFS parts work. IFS was developed by Dr. Richard Schwartz, which views the mind as made up of distinct parts, each with its own perspective, feelings, and role. We&rsquo;ll dive deep into the application of core concepts of Self, parts, the protective system and leveraging self energy. Designed for therapists, trainees, and mental health professionals, this workshop blends didactic teaching with reflective exercises and practical tools to begin integrating IFS techniques into clinical work. No prior experience with IFS is required. Zoom Workshop: IFS - Self Energy to Liberate Parts

What counts as a compulsion when no one else can see it? How can reassurance, problem-solving, or avoidance unintentionally become part of the OCD cycle? What actually happens in ERP beyond the phrase &ldquo;face your fears&rdquo;? This workshop brings OCD out of the textbook and into the clinical room. Through clear explanations, practical examples, guided discussion, and a brief breakout-room vignette, participants will practice separating triggering cues and obsessional experiences from overt and covert compulsions. Zoom Workshop: What You Need to Know About OCD

Grief is one of the most universal human experiences, yet many clinicians report feeling underprepared to effectively support grieving clients. This workshop provides a practical introduction to grief counseling, exploring current research, common misconceptions, and evidence-based approaches to supporting individuals experiencing loss. Participants will learn about anticipatory grief, the dying process, hospice care, prolonged grief, therapeutic communication strategies, and the role of humor, case management, and meaning-making in the healing process. Jill&rsquo;s career has included being on the frontline in the initial AIDS crisis, close to two decades in child welfare and adoptions, and spending more than a decade with hospice as a medical social worker and a director. Artificial intelligence is no longer a distant technological concept. It is in your client&rsquo;s pocket. Attachment theory isn&rsquo;t just a framework&mdash;it&rsquo;s a lens for understanding human connection, regulation, and change.
