Los Alamos Light Opera

Los Alamos Light Opera brings the joy of musical theater to the community, fostering creativity and collaboration through performances that entertain and inspire. Their mission is to engage audiences and provide a platform for local talent in the arts.

Sister Act is a high-energy musical comedy based on the 1992 movie starring Whoopi Goldberg. The show features original music by Alan Menken and lyrics by Glenn Slater. It tells the story of Deloris Van Cartier, who witnesses a crime and goes into hiding in a convent. Hilarity (and music) ensues! This show is rated PG*.&nbsp; The show will be held in Duane Smith Auditorium. Online ticket sales close 1 hour before the performance. The box office will be open at that time for sales at the door. Seating is not assigned. The house will open 30 minutes before curtain to allow patrons to select seats. *While this show contains positive, empowering themes, &nbsp;there is also brief gun play, cartoonish violence, and light swearing and innuendo that often goes over younger children&#39;s heads.

All donations are tax-deductible, as the Los Alamos Light Opera is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. Each show in the Duane Smith Auditorium costs approximately $20,000 in rental fees, royalties, and other necessities (sets, costumes, makeup, props, etc.). Each year, we also honor at least one graduating Los Alamos High School senior with the LALO Scot Johnson Memorial Scholarship. We are a 100% volunteer organization, so all donations will be used to fund future performances or scholarships.
