Mendelssohn Choir Of Pittsburgh

LXCL:The Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh is dedicated to performing compelling performances at the highest artistic level and fostering the appreciation, participation, and creation of choral music in present and future generations.

Join us for an intimate, thirty-person benefit dinner, all in support of the Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh. Savor delicious food and wine curated by Eleven&rsquo;s renowned chef, Eli Wahl, in a private room overlooking the restaurant while getting a preview of MCP&rsquo;s 118th Season. Music Director Daniel Singer will share his vision behind the season, MCP Core singers will perform excerpts of the music, and our new Executive Director Cameron Gunsbury-Massey will share insights from our Strategic Planning work.

Join us for an evening of music-making and meet the next generation of choral singers.&nbsp; The Junior Mendelssohn Choir of Pittsburgh (JMCP) provides talented youth with a rigorous musical environment in which to develop their vocal and ensemble singing skills. This pre-professional training program teaches young singers the self-discipline, commitment to excellence, and ensemble-related skills necessary to succeed in music and in life.&nbsp;

Junior Mendelssohn Fall Concert

Now in its third season, MCP&#39;s CrosSING Bridges initiative returns in the form of a participatory singing workshop. This workshop, exploring the roots and stories of Gospel Music, will be led by Dr. Herbert V.R.P. Jones, founder and director of the Heritage Gospel Chorale of Pittsburgh. All are welcome to join us for this choral workshop to celebrate the joy of singing in community. Gospel music was born out of the experience of formerly enslaved Black Americans and provided the foundations for blues, jazz, soul, rock, hip-hop, and nearly every other popular music genre. As one of the nation&#39;s foremost experts on Gospel music, Dr. Jones will guide attendees in learning about the history and significance of this fundamental genre through group singing and conversation. No prior experience with Gospel music is required &ndash; just come with an open mind and a willingness to delve into this rich American tradition. This event is free to attend with a suggested donation of $20.00. Registration is required.

CrosSING Bridges - Community Singing Workshop

Composed with poet and lyricist Charles Anthony Silvestri, Eric Whitacre&rsquo;s The Sacred Veil tells the true story of Silvestri&rsquo;s wife who passed away from ovarian cancer at 36. Whitacre&rsquo;s impactful work, paired with music by Tom&aacute;s Luis de Victoria and Caroline Shaw, creates space for reflection on love, loss, and healing.
