Learn to Hurl
EXPAND FOR DETAILS BELOW "more details" Learn to Hurl 2026Hurling (men) and camogie (women) is an Irish field sport played with a wooden stick and a small ball. It's over 3,000 years old, it's fast, and it's easier to pick up than it looks. Na Tóraidhe is Philadelphia's hurling and camogie club, and this fall we're running a seven-week program for adults who want to try it. Most of our players had never held a hurley before joining. You don't need to be Irish or athletic. You just need to show up.Who it's forComplete beginners of any age or fitness levelCoworkers, classmates, and friends looking for something to do on Thursday eveningsAnyone new to Philly who wants to meet peopleFormer players who want a low-pressure way back inWhat to expectEach session is an hour with club coaches: basic skills, drills, and small games, building up to short matches in the later weeks. The program wraps up with a social night where you can meet the rest of the club. Fair warning: a lot of people who come to "just try it" end up playing for years.
