National Road Heritage Foundation

The National Road Heritage Foundation preserves and promotes the history and heritage of the National Road, America's first highway west, fostering education and appreciation for its cultural significance through events, resources, and community engagement.

Join us as we welcome nationally-recognized sculptor Toby Mendez to the National Road Museum, where he will discuss the sculptures he has created for the Baltimore Orioles at Camden Yards, the Clara Barton Memorial near Hagerstown City Park, and the upcoming George Washington sculpture being unveiled in September. Seating is limited, tickets are available for free, however we ask that you consider making a contribution ins upoort of the National Road Heritage Foundation&rsquo;s mission to preserve and share the history of America&rsquo;s first federal highway.

An Evening with Toby Mendez

Pikeside Art En Plein Air invites artists and art lovers of all experience levels&nbsp;to spend a day painting outdoors along the historic National Road 🎨. Capture the landscape, architecture, and stories that surround America&rsquo;s first federal highway. Your registration helps the National Road Heritage Foundation share and preserve this history through education and community programs. Please complete the form below in order to ensure your place in the event. A basic canvas will be offered to each registered artist. &nbsp;Participants must provide their own drop cloth, easel, paint, brushes, food and drink,&nbsp;and any other desired supplies. Exhibition &nbsp; Public exhibition of completed paintings will be held on Saturdays at the National Road Museum for the remainder of May. Artists may retain ownership of pieces or donate their pieces to be sold in a silent auction ending on May 30th, with 100% of proceeds supporting the National Road Museum. &nbsp;Artists who donate their art may claim their cost of supplies including registration as a tax deduction. The NRHF is a local organization with a nationally significant mission: growing awareness and respect for the Historic National Road, the first federally sponsored road to the west! As an annual member, you are showing your ongoing support for &quot;The Road That Built The Nation&quot; and will be&nbsp;helping our organization to grow our reach across the State of Maryland. Members receive museum admission for the calendar year to both the National Road Museum AND the Boonsboro Trolley Station Museum, discounts on merchandise and on special programs. &nbsp;New members receive a &quot;Proud Supporter&quot; bumper sticker!

The National Road Museum Stagecoach Theater is the home of various multimedia experiences for guests and tour groups. &nbsp;It seats up to 18 guests and serves an essential role for school tours and other large groups. Your donation will allow us to make this an immersive experience, with a new floor and new wall and window coverings inspired by the common spaces of the many early taverns and inns along the Historic National Road, and in the process will make the theater a greater asset to our tour groups. If we exceed our goal for this project, the additional funds will go toward Phase II, our project to upgrade nearly ever one of our exhibits with more artifacts, multimedia, and tactile objects.

Cover charge includes general admission for one person, chips, dips, and sodas. Reserve a table includes admission for one person and complete control over what game is played at your table. &nbsp;A great opportunity for those looking for a place to play a regular game with friends. Rent the theater for your choice of a more private table or the ability to bring your video game system of choice and compete with others or play for an audience.
